So pessimistic lads! Yere obviuously used to hearing bull**** stories. Didnt read it all but €500,000 will build ye a nice stand like ours so €1m should build ye two! So now its just a case of seeing that money and getting the fans into the games! Easier said than done

The bold part is the important part for me. The fans to fill the stands will come if we can get ourselves promoted, as it is we have healthy 1st Division sized home and away support

Can't tell if thats sarcasm or they really were given out. Either way, I'm overseas at the moment so wasn't there and was interested to see what it looked like.

well lads its good news for the club, as said it should start in 4 weeks, so ye dont have long to wait to see if its true, if ye have clearance to get the grant it will be built, from what i understand the FAI will probably be overlooking it to make sure funds arent wasted,
just a word of warning, if a bunch of welshies turn up to build it, kick the s***e out of them and tell them f*** off, and i said do it:D

Cna understand your collective pessimism but hope this happens. Can remember Grace's plans for a Lansdowne type structure at rathbane aons ago.

Jackman is a great location in fairness.

The man was decades ahead of his time

Here we are on the 2nd of October 2007 and Hogan Park is almost identical to Lansdowne Road

I see what you did there!

Passed lansdowne last night and it is still in better condition than rathbane.

Now, now Joe, they're the biggest club in Europe and as such deserve dig-outs, grounds etc whenever they are needed

Nah, In fairness NY Hoop has had a horn for Rathbane ever since someone stole his bun at a League Cup game in 1987. It's nothing to do with snobbery or anything, its just it was a really nice bun

Major clearing works, to facilitate this development, will be getting underway within the next four weeks and the ultimate ambition is to develop Jackman Park into a top class stadium with a 6,000 capacity - planning permission has already been acquired for another stand at the opposite side of the ground and for two terraces.

The above is a snippet of the article on September 27th re: Jackman Park redevelopment. Over a month on i'm just wondering is there any progress on this???
