How 'bout "I get knocked down but I get up again" or whatever it's called. Every team needs to cultivate a fighting spirit.

Call me old fashioned but I think we should have "the Banks".

Its a uniquely Cork song, everyone knows it and will sing it, even people in the stand.
Imagine the whole Cross singing it as City come out for a big game against Bohs or Rovers.

"we will rock you" etc are played at grounds all over the world. We should have a song that says "we're from Cork, this is our patch and we're going to bust a gut to win this game"

I think people can email their suggestions for songs.

i remember a few years back this topic was being discussed on an old cork city forum and a somewhat surprisingly popular nomination was 'The Hustle'

first and formost i dont think we should have an overused cheesey song for the players to run out to.
its got to be something corkonian anyway, but those speakers are still cr*p and what diffrence would it really make to hear music piped out of a 'tin box'.
if we pulled a bohs and got some nice speaker system in it would work a treat.

i beg to differ. if anything the music was too loud before tuesday's match - had to shout just to be heard by guys standing right next to me!

O Fortuna from "Carmina Burana"

The speaker system is a disaster especially in The Shed.
They have gone from can't hear them to can't hear yourself.

Beware the deafness claims !!!

The ultimate solution is to give the microphone to Noelle and leave herself blast out a few all time favourites.

"We Will Rock You" belongs more to something like gladiators.
How about "Can't Help Falling in Love" by the King? It's a song that for years was the main shed anthem and could be timed so that the chorus bursts out just as the team is coming on. I never heard any other set of fans sing it un The away team should come out second, to the laurel and hardy music, or the circus tune, or if it's rovers, the Imperial Death March from Star Wars.

"Give him the Ball and Yard of Grass" by the Sultans of Ping FC. The song could be about Georgie, our modern day Nigel Clough.

Very funny! Anyway thats $hel$ one

I think that De Banks should be the one. Its all about Cork and sport and for a local team and local supporters, what could be better?

They used have the theme from 2001:A Space Oddisy during the Mountfield days and I think that it just didnt work although its a cool bit of ceol.

There should also be a "sound " thats played when we score like they do in Holland or Belgium. Feyenoord have a great one, it sounds like a Foghorn.

It sounds great. Gets the stadium rocking.

I don't think de banks is a good sound for the purpose intended as not really loud enough.

I think all they need a decent but different tune & makes no difference if no sporting or cork connection.

Not if it were to be re-worked ot something like we sing in the shed.

How about a competition for CMN (Cork Music Network)

Could be a bad sign aswell G'n'R were only a flash in the pan when you think of it, ..... City are an institution in their own right.

I would nominate "Fanfare for the Common Man" by Aaron Copeland.
"Prog Rock" giants (:o ) Emerson, Lake and Palmer had a hit with it a few years ago.
The ELP version has the Trumpet Fanfare to start followed by quite a stirring drumming sequence.
And we are, are we not, Common Men??........;)

"Right Here, Right Now" by Fat Boy Slim.
or
If anyone has the album from Euro2000 there's some belting tunes on that.
It's got to be something with a build up to loud bass to get the pulse racing and fire up the team.
Can't see De Banks doing that.

Found it.
Right click HERE (http://www.mp3dimension.com/dl/17796/ffcommon.mp3) and "Save Target As..."
File size is around 2.98Mb
It's starts off alright but it never really gets going.
We need something that really takes off.

Thats very poor in my opinion, too slow.

Have to agree with you there. Would be good tune as the teams walk out but as you say it never ups the tempo at all.

Im not budging on The Banks. THe whole ground could sing it, from the Family section to the corner, St Annes end to The Shed (and, God forbid, the Donnie Ford).

If I were a Cork born player, playing for Cork City, there's no other song Id rather hear!

Absolutely NOT. I don't know the name of it, seeing as in all probability it's not an Irish/British piece, but IMO, it would work a treat.
