What a load of typically confused and negative balls from the Indo. It's a massive ****-up on behalf of the FAI (fetch the smelling salts) but it's hardly the end of the world, particularly the Dalymount/Turner's Cross scenario. Finals have been hosted by participating clubs in the past decade, and indeed such is current policy for the League Cup final. As for the FAI Cup final clashing with the World Cup draw...!

It's understood the FAI are stymied by the UB40 concert at the RDS on Monday, November 26.

The UB40 gig is in the Main Hall, not the Stadium and its the day after - i can't for the life of me see why it would be a problem; it's not as if they could be using the venue the day before either, since they're in Belfast on the Sunday. This smells a bit.

I heard reliably that the actual reason for the **** up here is because the draw for the WC Qualifiers falls on the same day as the Cup Final and there will be a number of FAI 'suits' over for the (p!ss up) ehrm, draw.

So effectively for the sake of a few administrators, who probably only go to the one game a year anyway, everybody else has to suffer.

If true, and I would well believe it, that's a disgrace !!!

anyone who doubts the complimentary extravagance of a Sepp Blatter gala bash - and the corresponding willingness of the world's football administrators to indulge themselves - should read the extraordinary exposé "Foul" by Andrew Jennings.

The Football Association of Ireland is pleased to announce that the 2007 FAI Ford Cup Final will take place at the RDS on Sunday, December 2.

The venue will have a capacity of 18,000 of which 16,500 are seated and the game will be screened live by RTE with the kick-off time to be announced at a later date.

Joke. What's wrong with the 18th? Cup Final in December is ridiculous especially as it will be 3 weeks after the league finishes.

And they dont even have a kick off time? Oh dear.

Are they going to pay players wages for the extra 2 weeks?

I can see some clubs wanting to lose Cup Semi's so they dont have to incur further unnecessary costs!!

Roll up roll up to the circus FAI.

They clearly forgot to book it having been too busy worrying about the monumental ****up.....ahem senior international trip to Czeck and Slovak republics.

FAI chiefs are hastily trying to defuse the extraordinary crisis which is threatening to hold the Blue Riband event of domestic soccer up for ridicule.

Threatening?! I've already had two non-EL fans I know texting me today about what a jokeshop this league is, holding this up as yet another example. We'd have been better off without the ****ing FAI taking over the whole show in my opinion. They ballsed up the licensing, they haven't been able to promote the game any better than myself and my dog working with a budget of two sticks would, they impose Nazi style fines on fans, they made the Leagues last year look like a waste of time, the merry-go-round of whether Waterford, Galway, Dundalk or Shels would be in the Premier was a joke, they took the life out of the FAI Cup weeks ago by spacing the rounds so far about, and now this travesty. How any of us can look people in the eye and ask them to fork over money to support this nonsense is beyond me, more power to the barstool monkeys from now I think

Not surprising that there's conflicting information- http://foot.ie/showpost.php?p=778673&postcount=9

EDIT: thought that said that he had emailed the FAI for some reason...

Unbelieveable. I told the old man that date the other day and he thought it was a wind up. Just when you think it can't get any worse, it plunges to new depths

Ya great attendance that year. 25,000 apparently
Heard it was 17,000 city supporters and 8000 drogs.
Not sure how accurate that was but there was a great crowd for city considering the distance.
Just a pity about the result!!

HA HA Totally inaccurate ! Where you actually in the stadium that day or what ? This brings the " we get more people than you at our games " to a whole new level  17 ,000 citys fans me hole .

Pat Dolan wrote a great article in todays Daily Star about the FAI CUP final being changed. I think its a great reflection of the feelings many fans are expressing on here.
