Waterford - Bohs apparently delayed until 8.15 due to a clash of colours with strips. Which is a bit strange since they wear an all-blue home kit and we wear a red and black home kit and all-white away kit

 Cant see how there would be a clash unless both wore their white away kits:confused:

Great craic in Waterford.

Bohs turned up with jerseys too similar to Waterford's. Someone went off and obtained a set of jerseys from a local junior club - but Bohs refused to wear them because they were essentially..... ahem..... green and white hooped jerseys, and Bohs didn't want to play looking like Shamrock Rovers.....
:D

Bohs finally agreed to wear Waterford's away jerseys.

This is a Fcukin joke of a league if that can happen twice within a few weeks. Can they not sort it out at the start of year when fixtures announced. You wouldn't see it in junior football.

The blue trimmings on Bohs away jersey were considered by Anthony Buttimer to clash, despite us wearing it in the other fixture this season.

Maybe there was a clash with the referee or goalkeepers jerseys. In any case a farce!

In fairness it probably had little to do with the team strips if Buttimer was making the call. (Funny how I find myself talking about him again!) He probably needed to assert his authority and had run out of ideas on how to do so!

Here's (http://www.colours-of-football.com/colours03/irl/irl05.html) Bohs' jerseys for the season (third row).

Here's (http://www.colours-of-football.com/colours03/irl/irl07.html) Waterford's jerseys (bottom row).

Waterford had their home jersey, because that's what they're wearing (with Bohs now wearing Waterford's away kit). There is no way in hell that clashes with either Bohs kit.

Am I missing something?!

we turned up at the RSC with just our away kit

i reckon that WU tried to pull a fast one and line out in their away kit too

Won't know until someone who's at the game reports back with what went on - with the pertinent question being - "What did Waterford come out wearing at 7:40pm?"

Strange business indeed

That doesn't make any sense.

What would they have to gain from that?

Why wouldn't the ref just say "Feck off and get yer home kit?", which obviously was around?

As I said - strange business indeed - I can but speculate.

Could also have something to do with shorts or the goalkeeping kits - but we need confirmation by those there as to what each team initially came out in

pineapple stu
14/09/2007, 8:55 PM
Possibly, but in that case, you can just change shorts or keeper's jersey; no need to have the whole team change the whole kit.

well i'll put the speculation to dead then.
We were wearing our usual blues shirts, nicks and shorts. Bohs only brought away kit,wit blue shorts, and with blue stripe on it,so Buttimer decided they clashed. Game was about to be cancelled until they agreed to wear our away jerseys!
