Im not sure if anyone else heard this last friday at the Monaghan game but there was a rumour going around that Finnucane was leaving Limerick37 FC due to work commitments. Can anyone on here involved in the club either confirm or deny this rumour? If true is it temporary or not? Thanks :ball:

Yes it's true. Paul's job apparently requires him to go back to college on friday nights and saturdays, so he's decided to pack it in. I believe he's going to play next friday night because we're going to be badly stuck, but thats it then.
Personally, I feel that he's become a tad disillusioned with all the crap and is glad to be getting out.
A great servant to Limerick football over the years, and with the right attitude could have played across the water. He is possibly the best reader of the game I've seen play for Limerick since Ray O'Halloran when Ray was a young fella.
Good luck paul. Thanks for all your outstanding efforts. I wish you well.:ball:

Thanks PBW. I agree with you about Paul. Great player and one of my favourites in recent years. Best of Luck with your studies and future, Paul. :ball:
Shame to see him go, was always my favourite player and has been our best performer in a lot of the seasons that I've been going. I never thought the cpataincy should have been taken off him when Purcell came back, but it's just a minor complaint. Either way the two of them formed the best centreback partnership in this division. He'll be getting my vore for clubman of the year award come the end of the season as a small means of paying him back for his years of loyal service to Limerick football

I'd echo all the comments above, he's always been a firm favourite with me :ball:

If this friday is really his last game for L37 is there any chance the SC can organise some sort of tribute for Finnucane. Lets say a banner saying Thanks, goodluck etc... He deserves it like. Always the one player who stood out as having the most passion for Limerick senior soccer.

you sure about that? check our goals conceeded.
on paper they should have been the best but i dont think that its happened over the course of this season.
move chucka in, molan at left back. give danagher a few games at centre half as well.

I think this could be a blessing in disguse. We were going no where with playing Molan in Centre Midfield and hopefully Finnys early retirement will force Ski to play Molan at left back with Barrett, Colbert, Harrington, Hayes all available to play in Centre Midfield.

Ya he played him striker for Rovers but for watching him the last few seasons my opinion is that his best position would be attacking centre midfield. He has played poorly every time he has played on the wings so...

Yep, I don't judge a partnership on just over half a season

Another genius remark, could you bother reading what I type next time? They haven't been the best this year, but they'd still be top 4, but they were the best in two of the last five seasons, explained enough or is it sock puppet time?

maybe if you made yourself clearer next time.
top 4?
socket puppett time? dont wanna know what your behind closed door activities are boss. ;)
Lord God, now I know why I rarely post on the Limerick forum anymore, either the newer posters here are the greatest wind up merchants in the history of wind up merchants, or Limerick people generally are just that little bit slower than the rest of the human race. Anyway for Declan here's what I've said all along, and this is the way the discussion was going, and I'll space things apart for you so you follow this time,
Either way the two of them formed the best centreback partnership in this division.

Clear enough Declan? You know where I said I don't judge a partnership on this season alone, and then you said that I think they've been the best this year, and then I stated again that I judged them on what I've seen over the past number of seasons and not on this season alone again? I mean jesus christ....
Oh and one final point when I say,
They haven't been the best this year, but they'd still be top 4
and sees it says
would the best not be the 1s who concede the least???
and you agree with him by saying
hmm sees it...dont make it so easy for mr high brow there will ya?
and also
top 4?
Then can you not see how hypocritical it is to say that we should judge them on goals conceded and then  at the thought that the Limerick partnership, who have conceded the 4th least amount of goals in the division this year are considered in the top 4 defences this season? Or was that just you boo-booing again?
Oh and congratulations for dragging a thread dedicated to Paul Finnucane into another mindless Limerick stamped squabble  I wonder how long I can reasonably leave it living in Dublin before I just start going to UCD games altogether and leave this sorry mess of a forum behind

congratulations to you.
Nothing about the top 4 thing no? Or me having to spend quite a few posts explaining the concept of judging a partnership over a number of seasons, when it was as clear as day in the first response I gave to you? Good stuff Declan

Yes, idiots. People who lack common sense and objectivity. People who turn every topic on this forum into a Junior v senior debate, or people who blatantly go off topic, especially on a thread that was opened to acknowledge the good someone has done for the club.
