My purchasing of new music has been very hit and miss in more recent times, for various reasons.
So, a recent joining of the broadband generation afforded me the opportunity of downloading the excellent C06 compilation (http://www.indie-mp3.co.uk/2006/07/c06.html), a continuation of the C81, C86 theme. As I listened back I found myself on-line ordering Pelle Carlberg's album before his track, 'Clever girls like clever boys more than clever boys like clever girls' had even finished. This single, also available for download from indie-mp3, is a catchy pop song, showing Pelle's ear for a good tune and witty lyrics. He may have grown up in Sweden, but his uncanny resemblence to Stuart Murdoch ( both in song writing and an eerily similar voice) and his obvious admiration for Morrissey and The Smiths ticks all the right boxes for me; 'I touched you at the sound check', an ode to Mike Joyce being the best, er only, song dedicated to a drummer I'm aware of.
I know there are a few here that like their indie pop, and Sweden being a hub for that particular genre, you have no excuses.
