I thought only Powell was called up. Am I not right in saying you need a minimum 2 called up to be entitled to a postponement?

I think Joxer got a late call up.

It seems Turner might have been called up by norn iron u-21s aswell. So that's 3 call-ups.

Yes i think we tried to get our game v Bohs off because Chris Turner was away on International duty and was told no.

You can't get a game called off if 1 player is away on international duty. However Bohs will have 3 away (Powell,Turner,Joxer) so are entitled to ask for the game to be postponed.

Was it a friendly or qualifier?

Just the one- Cork got their game against Bray called off when Joe Gamble was away with the Ireland squad.

It's become a rigt jokeshop when a stocking like Powell gets a call up, one of the worst full backs in the league

You're right, of course.
There should be a rule that they only pick those good enough to play in a proper league in England.

The clubs changed the rule themselves (ie they voted a change to the rule) a few years back that only one player being called up was enough to postpone.

Now that the FAI are in charge of the rulebook they should change it back to two players.

Rules stated that if 3 players are called up from one team then the match is called off. It's a rule that is all over Europe now if I'm not mistaken. I can remember Middlesbrough bringing it up once & asking whats the difference between call-ups for the seniors & U21's.

Ah but we're different. Only 1 player needs to be called up for a game to be called off. Witness Cork's game with bray (I think) being called up when Roy O'Donovan was acalled into the senior squad. And u21 qualifiers hold more weight than senior friendlies.

The Cork Bray match was called off when (only) Joe Gamble was called up for the friendlies in the USA back in May.

I would agree that if it were one player then the match shouldn't be called off. But with three players that are (and will be in Turners case) regular starters then it's fair enough to have the match postponed IMO.

We used the excuse that 3 of our fringe players being called up to the 4 Nations Cup as a loophole around the rule.

When did I mention England? Just stating that Powell is poor and it amazes me how he's anywhere near an international team
