I think it might be worth pointing out that the Harps vs Derry game may not have been shown because it is on Saturday, not Friday.
I think it might be worth checking out your fact before you post
waterford v sligo. showing finn park would be a bad advertisement for the standard of grounds in the eircom league.
As it turned out, Waterford V Sligo was a bad advertisement for the standard of football in the eircom League.
What was the attendance by the way? That also looked awful on TV.
Big mistake by TnaG. Even if it is a bore scoreless draw in a Finn Park tonight in front of 5000+ fans, it would have much better than that tripe last night.

Well quoted match was dire, the attendance was dire, and the ground looked dire

They should have stuck to thier original decision and showed the game in Bray. Decent crowd. Cracking atmosphere. Good football and a dramatic 94rh minute winner for a ten man Pats team

Nah, anything but Pats. ;)

The FAI/Noel Mooney should be working directly with the TV channels in choosing which games to screen.
If you hadn't a clue about our league, you'd pick an all-premier fixture like Waterford v Sligo to show in the cup. If you'd even the vaguest notion of the EL, you'd have picked the Harps-Derry fixture. That's the problem with having disinterested channels who knock feck-all.
It's clear that the channels don't know what they're doing and need a hand. Making a bad choice of live game has the potential to do more harm to the league's image and reputation than the amount of good most of Noel Mooney's work can do in a season......

Was waiting for the knockers on this one complaing about the ground and attendance etc.
We were due a live game at the RSC as there hasnt been one since November 2003. Granted the attendance was bad but the atrocious weather did not help things either.
About the ground: The RSC this time next year when completed will be one of the best grounds in the country with 3000 covered seats and new training facilities so thereby increasing our marketability. I agree Derry v harps should be live on the box too.

For anyone wondering what the Harps-Derry game atmosphere would have looked like on TG4, have a look at this unedited footage :

The atmosphere tonight was electric, a real cup tie buzz around the ground, shame on you TG4, shame on you, I just give up on this to be honest pure bull that this match was not shown live, fair enough that the Waterford fans day it's been 2003 since they were last on TV but when last were Harps?? the cup final in 1999 (the last time we were in the Premier Division we were not shown in a live match, what good is this to potential sponsors ).

Yer all talking about the atmosphere but how was the match itself? Nobody watches games to hear the atmosphere:rolleyes:.

game was good, both teams got the ball down and played football for the majority. Not too much goal-mouth action but in fairness the conditions were horrible.
sligoman, people like to see an atmosphere at games, I guarantee it would have been a better game to have on tv than yer game on friday.

Then I think they prefer to see a good game considering that's what the cameras show for most of the game. TG4 showed our game, get over it cos it's too late to change things now...people are never happy, they complain when there's no games on and then they complain when they're on.

You're just being defensive here Sligoman.
Watching a game of football in a quiet stadium is terrible. Makes the whole experience flat. There's nothing worse than being able to hear players and management shout because a stadium's so quiet. Many future fans will get their first taste of our product on TV now, and we'll struggle to convert many of them if there is no atmosphere at the games they see. I didn't get attracted to Irish football for the quality - and if we're honest none of us do, as we can't compete with England and Scotland in that regard. I went to one game and got hooked on the atmosphere and craic. If it had been in a quiet near empty stadium, I'd probably never have gone back...
As predicted in-advance, TG4 made the wrong choice of game. Showing games at all is important. Showing the right games, is even more so....

They actually made the right choice, and then changed their mind.

waterford v sligo was entertaining i thought. still though showing a game where the backdrop is the rsc is will always look awful on tv
Yeh I thought both teams tryed to play some good ball but conditions and empty stadium made it look a lot a worse than it actually was.
