c/bar town 2-3 ballina

This is a very poor result for the Town. Does this mean another season in the bottom division,if not they will have to win all remaining games. I see by the Celtic web site that Neil Ainsworth has returned to Celtic and scored on his debut. Did Sammy play yesterday.

Will this team fold or was it just a one off blip. Hard to believe that the Boro can't field two teams

A Team were missing 7 players due to injury, holidays, laziness, etc. so B team had to fill the gaps. Incurred a big fine for not fulfilling a fixtures so the lads who were missing will be told to shape up or ship out.

Castlebar Celtic 2 Cross Celtic 1. A well competed for game. Castlebar seemed to show the greater hunger with some hard tackling and strong running. Breaking especially fast from defence to attack. Cross probably looked a bit tired having played during the week as well. 2nd Castlebar goal was a peach. Cross have shown huge improvement but will need to win some games before the end of the season. Good performances from Butler, Hughes and goalie O'Reilly.
Cross 1 Swinford 1. This is a game Cross should have got more than one point from. Swinford scored first - totally against the run of play. Cross were very dominant in the 1st half but probably less so in the 2nd half. Possible issues with fitness. Cross seem to have a huge problem in getting enough players forward when they attack. They do though try to keep the ball on the ground though invariably are then leaving themselves guilty to the accusation of trying to over-elaborate when a good thump of the ball should be employed. Experience will help them determine when to play the ball and when to welly it. Excellent displays from full backs Ryan Maye and especially Dave Maye.

Sinabhuil - Ye cud have sneaked a draw, yer man up front had a chance near 2nd half where he tried to chip the keeper, had that gone in who knows.
Funniest part was in 2nd half where one of yer lads was trying to explain to the forward who came on the offside rule!! :)

clew bay can be caught, but we need a few results to go our way, have to keep winning, and hope for the best. iam confident we will beat clew bay away also that erris will beat them thats 6 points droped for clew bay:eek:, theirs a small chance but its a chance.. pity we got the 3 points taken from us over the ballyvary game this has made a huge difference to the table

think theirs a bit of drama unfolding at the mo in div2a, that could make a difference to the div table "watch this space" will wait and c

Confident ye will beat Clew Bay away, what logic is behind it, have ye beat them at home or away this season?

Also how did Clew Bay and Erris matches go this season? Again you expect Erris to get 6 out of 6 off them?

Ye are really expect a lot there and the form guide to turn on its head also, they are 5 ahead of ye at this stage with a game in hand, I think ye will be doing well to finish 5 behind them never mind ahead of them.

Apparently it was for disciplinary problems. They had more than 6 players booked in two games. I've never heard of this happening before but that is supposedly the reason!!

We will finish mid table all going well, our C team are fighting hard, have to beat Hollister then go into last game of season against Knock to get into playoffs against either Erris or Clew Bay.

This sounds ridiculous- What next? points deducted for tackling an opponent!
Its a contact sport- not volleyball! and a ref might have had a poor game and gave a few cards he should'nt have. Did anyone get sent off in either game? First ive ever heard of this nonsense. Whats your opinion TOB? even you must agree that this is harsh?:ball:

Yeah you're right. If this is the case it is a bit harsh. I hav'nt heard anything else and nobody has come up with an alternative reason for the points deduction. Irishyop, you said you we're going to look into it....any word??
You would think that Erris would have got a warning and maybe a fine first, and maybe they did. Those three points could mean the difference between the title and the play offs and I'm sure they would be sickened if they lost the title over indiscipline!
I know at Town in the past we had problems with several bookings in games but I can't recall us ever being threatened with losing points. It would be nice to hear what the powers that be have to say on the matter!

All i heard from one of the players was that they had 6 bookings in 2 consecutive matches.
They are appealing it and to be honest I think that is a joke of a decision

irishyop
24/09/2007, 8:48 AM
Well the season is heading towards a final day showdown for Celtic C and K&K. Winner takes all after Celtic C won in Hollister. Due to Ballyglass B not been able to field a team regardless of the K&K result against Hollister it will be a showdown on last day of season.

I expect that Div 2 A is not near finalised as the Clew Bay and Castlebar Town drew to put the promotion play offs and Super league domination to bed for Town for one more season ;) Were you playing MT? Tubestation whats your slant on the match?

Tube Station

Clew Bay didnt play well at all and got 2 late goals to level the game. But the ref was a complete disgrace, it was like an non contact sport, every tackle by Clew Bay players resulted in a free for Castlebar whether Clew Bay won the ball or not. 2 of the Castlebar goals were also clearly offside. the ref wasnt the guy that was down to ref the game on the midweek papers and i think the replacement has connections with Castlebar Town which would explain his disgraceful performance

ya town gave the ref a brown envelope before the game thats why we got 3 clear penos turned down. best of luck in the playoff
