Mickey Devine, no doubt about it. Stephen O'Brien with Longford isn't half bad either, especially for a guy of 5'7''. Devine's the best, though.
Definately a thumbs up for Digger stephen o brien. The man is sheer class!
Thats allright thats ok Digger O'Brien is fcuking great

These sort of polls on foot.ie are always gonna swing Citys way.
I reckon Williams is a class act.
Barry Ryan without a doubt if you have the most clean sheets with UCD you know you are doing well

No1 has even mentioned Tony o'dowd! interesting.... Tough 1 to call Shay Kelly did ok when he was with us, Ryan at u.c.d was impressive last season i like williams of shels, who am i gonna go for!!! The guy at Derry?? Cant remember his name is it Payne??? anyhow he is my man!!

Pity he doesn't play for Derry anymore then isn't it
I'd go for Digger - he's quite literally kept us in the Premier since we came up..... I'd mention Barry Ryan after last season, but not convinced he actually did as much as digger.... Clean sheets are one thing, but that's not necessarily a fair indicator - if a defence gives sod all chances, then obv the keeper's going to come across as better in terms of clean sheets...

Barry Ryan. Absolutely no doubt. Was on the team of the year, the two TV3 teams of the year, the TV3 fans' team of the year, was named goalkeeper of the season, kept more clean sheets than anyone else (and we're talking 13 compared to his nearest challenger on 9), saved three penalties, etc., etc.
No offence, but anybody who says anybody other than Bazza doesn't know what they're talking about! :D
And he's currently on nearly 600 minutes without conceding a goal too.

Also Barry Ryan hasn't conceded a goal in 3 friendlies for Rovers. The real reason that people aren't saying he's the best keeper in the league is....he plays for Rovers!

Digger, without a doubt. the guy virtually kept us in the Premier these last few seasons. And my vote for best character of the eL too.

Stop rubbing it in you!
Without being biased...and i'm not now that he's a bloody Rovers player...but Barry Ryan was absolutely outstanding last season for UCD. If it goes on recent form...which is all you can judge by really, then it has to be Ryan. 600 minutes without a goal conceded...unbelievable.

I'd also have to say Barry Ryan (although with any luck, everyone'll be saying Pat Jennings at this stage next year!)
Also looking back over the thread, Bazza's the only player voted for by fans of clubs other than those he's played for.

Steve Williams is a great shot-stopper, but seems to have a problem with crosses.
Ryan for me.
gotta be digger kept us up as macy rightly pointed out. don't forget
5 foot 8,
Overwieght,
Digger O'Brien is f*****g great,
With a nick nack paddywhack,
Give the dog a bone,
Longford Town go marching on...
digger has been super for 3 straight years in the premier.
ryan had one great season but he has a good bit to go to be digger.
the question was asked 'who is the leagues best keeper' not who was the best last season.
playin for rovers will be a real test for barry ryan. everyone knows how bad rovers are at the back!

Is there an "amazed that someone could spout such blinkered rubbish" smiley?!
Bazza has been our Player of the Season - Club and Supporters - for the last two seasons, so there's your argument out the window surely?!
sorry two good seasons, still not a patch on diggers 5 for us. He hasnt had one bad season. hes better than ryan no doubts about it.

3 very good keepers after one spot
I shall no longer partake in this debate. I hate to say it...i had to say it...it's bazza for me....(cough JUDAS cough)

Which handily ignores the 640 minutes without conceding a goal at the end of last season!
Or the fact that no keeper got close to as many clean sheets (13 v. 9)
Or the fact that an average mid-table to lower-table team conceded the fewest goals in the league.
Or all the awards he won - Team of the Year, Goalkeeper of the Year, nominated for Player of the Year (an exceptional achievement for a keeper), two (I think) NLU Player of the months, UCD Player of the Year (second year running), on every team on the TV3 eL show...
Bazza's the best. End of story.
