In addition to signing Paul Murphy on loan from Pats we've signed Peter Hynes on loan from Derry. Both can play upfront or in midfield. Hynes seemed to do well at Dundalk, albeit First Division, and hasn't impressed at Derry.

They sound like poor signings. Any time I've seen Hynes playing for Derry he's been poor. I could understand why we went for one of them as both of them would give us something up front we don't have but in a Glen Fitzpatrick type way. Not sure why we signed both of them.

I'm glad he's away, but only so he can get games under his belt. Hynes has the brain of a good footballer, but the body of a rugby player. He has lost a lot of weight over the past two months. IMO he needs games as he is a long way away from being classed as fit. A loan deal suits us, if he gets fit and has a good strike partner he could prove to be a good signing for you guys.As Irishmen we dilute our sense of nation by depending on the English to bring us our ballsComment

Both of them are no risk long shots. With a bit of luck, one or both of them will come good, but if not, they disappear in November.You can't spell failure without FAIComment

Ah yeah, I know they're low risk short term loans but given that this appears to be the sum of our transfer window efforts it's a bit disappointing. Then again Keith Doyle and Paul Crowley last season were relatively low key signings and they helped us finish last season with a flourish.Comment

Paul Crowley has been a worthwhile addition and Doyle's decision to retire was regretted by many fans here on this UCD section of foot.ie when he announced it. NO risk in signing the guys on loan. If they work out well they will either be big successes back at their parent clubs or we will sign them permanently. If they don't they can be sent back before the end of their loan period. I hope they both last longer than Dessie Baker did ......Comment
