View Full Version : The Driver Theory Test
Decided i'd have a go at ridiing a motorbike. Dublin traffic is getting to me. I see i have to do "The Driver Theory Test" to get my provisional licence for a bike. I've held a full licence for the last 20 years. Anyone done it? Whats the test like, is there much to it?

Have driven a bike myself for years, the theory test is fairly easy, unless they have changed it recently. Make sure you apply for your bike test immediately as the waiting list can be even longer than for a car (I had to sit mine new years eve morning after finishing a 12 hour shift...passed it). Up until about 2 years ago they just followed in a car and made you do a couple of u-turns, they now follow in a bike with headsets for communication.
The bad news is that even after passing the test you are still restricted to low power bikes for 2 years or bikes that are restricted although this is not usually enforced.
Best of luck...
PS I'm in the opposite boat to you, I'm waiting on my car test for 10 months....
Thanks for that. just got this http://www.irishmotoring.ie/theorytests.php online. Didn't realise that it was all based aroud bikes:o. i thought it was a more general "rules of the road" type of thing. test is on Friday:eek:
