I have a job interview coming up in two weeks in Cavan, not sure if the job will have me living there as its with a Dublin based newspaper but it could very well do. Just wanted to get some information on what it's like living in Cavan town before I even think about taking up any possible job offer, so if anyone knows anything about it it would be greatly appreciated. Cheers

I have only one memory of Cavan and it might give you an insight to the mindset of a Cavan man. It was in the mid 90's and I was on my way to Gortakeegan to see the mighty Mons beat Galway United 3 - 1

My route took me through the town of Cavan where I stopped in a petrol station (I think it may have been a Statoil) to fill up the car. The owner was a friendly country lad whose dog was even friendlier.

"What's the dog's name?", I enquired.

"Esso" came the reply, "after those dirty ba5tard5 down the road."

I laughed for twenty minutes.

Ah Cavan, its not as bad as it sound! (Mrs Ash works there.)
A few nice pubs and resteraunts. Was almost convinced to buy a house up
there to make easier for her work, its about an hour drive from Athlone, but
luckily we found a place 5 minutes from my work instead :D
