    Under 21 pre-season shield

Drew 3-3 with Bray yesterday in a pre-season competition. http://www.braywanderers.ie/index.ph...551&tt_news=39
We're not arrogant, we're just better.

      2007 U-21 season

May as well get this going for the new season. Schumi, sticky if you want.

After winning the Futsal league and then losing in the play-off final, we're into the Shield now. Drew 3-3 against Bray on the opening day, then 0-0 against Rovers, but beat Bohs 6-0 today.

Other Shield results that I can see -

      Rovers 3-0 Pat's
      Pat's 1-0 Shels
      Bohs 1-0 Shels
      Bray 3-3 Bohs
      Rovers 2-0 Shels

So that leaves the table at (assuming there's no other teams in the competition for whom I don't have any results) -

      Code:
      [B]Team	P	W	D	L	F	A	GD	Pts[/B]
      Rovers	3	2	1	0	5	0	5	7
      UCD	3	1	2	0	9	3	6	5
      Bohs	3	1	1	1	4	9	-5	4
      Pat's	2	1	0	1	1	3	-2	3
      Bray	2	0	2	0	6	6	0	2
      Shels	3	0	0	3	0	4	-4	0
Meanwhile, we're against Athlone Town, Ballinasloe Town, Bray Wanderers, Kildare County, Port Laoise, Longford Town and St. Patricks Athletic in the U-21 league. I assume it'll be us, Bray and Pat's challenging as usual, although Kildare were strong last year as I recall (knocked us out of the Cup).

David Last got a hat-trick against Bohs; Eóin Ó Cinnéide, Greg Bolger and Darren Forsyth also scored.

There's three groups in this Shield thingy, with a knock-out semi-final. The winners of Groups A and B, along with first and second from Group C (our group) go through, according to the Shamrock Rovers website.

We're in C as per my post.

I think that answers both your questions.

Sorry, missed the brackets. I suppose it's because it's the Dublin group, riding the culchies rock solid and all that.

Bray, Rovers, UCD and Pat's are four of the strongest teams usually, so it must be just stronger than the other groups. Plus you need one extra team to make four from three, so they just picked it from this one. It's only a pre-season tournament, so I doubt there was that much complaining. Think it didn't even get finished the first year.
