michaels signed mernagh and paying him 150e a game mite upset the other players:confused:
actually you should add a zero to the end of that...... so to confirm how ridiculous your statement is. I am supporting and been part of the saints club for 30 years and we never pay players. we don;t have to, players want to play for the club , on a great pitch with fantastic facilities. we leave the paying of players etc to the Pike rovers and lisseltons' of this world.

fair play to cloughjordan, they made saints work for their win.. thought though saints could have got 2-3 in second half where clough only had 1 header from a corner. jeez lads whats with the pitch up there. the NTDL need to improve the condition of their pitches to be taken seriously.
We are aware that our pitch is not in the best of shape but there is not much we can do about it.. we are trying to buy our own field but it aint easy..
As regards daz22 comments above you cannot blame the pitch for any results as it is the same for both teams.. we would like to be playing on a much better surface also..
It was a tough and very competive game on sunday and it was an unbelievable goal to make it 3.2 to micheals.. Best goal i have seen in junior soccer IMO..
mr. man
27/11/2007, 11:24 AM
Thought it would have being easier for Michaels because cloughjordan are getting hammered by both Nenagh teams regularly this year!!Michaels missing players.Cloughjordans field very poor for playing good football.
Are you saying that the pitch had something to do with the result on sunday ??? We (clough) were also missing players when we played the nenagh teams this season and also a few last sunday against micheals so stop trying to make excuses fot micheals not beating us by more..
We knew we would give them a good game and we were very dissapointed at the end result..

Sorry, was asleep there. I'm awake now though! Town v Celtic this Sunday - Come on the Celts! It's about time we got one over on them, take all the three points and blow the TSDL wide open! Ha Ha! Carlsberg doesn't do dreams, but if it did...............:D
good result for oscar traynor side. got the point to see em through to next round

Terrible bloody game though. The TSDL mid field went missing in the second half and the Kerry goal was a defensive **** up to say the least. A game they could have won.

mornin fellas
wondering if you can help with info on how to beat michaels, i'll just come straight out an say it ! kinsale welcome them to the seaside next sat and while we will be very hospitable for the duration of their stay we would like to wave the saints bus off with us still in the cup
any info on players to watch or tactics to employ would be much appreciated, we've a reasonable side but we know we're up against a top side so home advantage gives us a chance, forecast for the week is bad but we're on top of a hill so 12 hours of dryness should see a firm surface, match should go ahead unless it gets cat altogether durin the week, eddie foley ex-loi is the ref so we wont be getting any favours there, it'll be the best team on the day, ferrybank beat us on pens last year in the fai & mjc so we'll be out to avenge the tipp defeats, there's no foul play in our game so should be a good ole game a ball
see ye saturday, wonder will anyone outside of saints offer us help .......

sorry pal but ferrybank are in waterford not tipp. st michaels are very strong at the back two junior internationals and up front they have as good a finisher as you will meet. no secrets really as everyone knows give them set pieces and your putting yourself in trouble. paul kennedy up front is an excellent player needs only one chance to punish you.
dont give away set pieces cause you will be punished. defence is very strong for the saints but the two center halfs can be troubled when on the back foot or when players run at them. there midfield is not the strongest part of there team. i think a tactic of 4-5-1 could stifle them and they could be over run midfield. one other thing if paul kennedy gets any space or even one chance he will score. averages over a goal a game. so be wary of him. thats enough info now. we all here hoping for saints victory to keep tsdl flag flying in the comp

a defensive c**kup to say the least but the goal was coming for a long time!! The Keeper, right full centre half and left full all got things miwxed up at one stage or another a series of mistakes made the goal. However the kerry team dominated the whole game without ever creating much in the first half, the midfeld you speak of was never really present apart from young burns and tipp offered little up front, i think all in all on the night with the team tipp had it was a great result!!

thanks boys
we're expecting a difficult game, weather is iffy for the week but we're hoping it will go ahead
we should have a reasonable team out so if we get a bit of luck we should be able to stay with the saints, ya never know on the day, it'll be a battle of fitness and like ye said, whoever takes their chances, we should see a few goals and i'm expecting a decent game
any saints lads tuning in better bring some warm jumpers, the wind is howling down here and it gets baltic down by the seaside, make sure yer subs have a few layers
the rest is down to lady luck, as i said, may the best team win

anyone got paddy purtill and tipp cup draws . i think they were made last night

a lot of blue sky down here at the moment tippman and forecast isn't all that bad for the coming days http://www.wunderground.com/global/stations/03955.html
there's a breeze blowing so as long as it doesnt rain too heavy tomorrow night we should have a solid enough pitch, not sure if the lawn has been cut this week though so it might look a bit tired at 1st glance but it wont interfere with footballing on saturday !
best bring a raincoat, hat and a couple of jumpers though, we got a great view of the sea from the pitch but it is a little exposed
dunno if you've booked in yet but i'd recommend this place if you're after a comfortable stay
http://www.friars-lodge.com/history.html
if its action your after then the white lady has a bit of everything, rooms, good restaraunt, great bar food, sport on the telly and a night club if ye are celebrating on sat night
www.whiteladyhotelkinsale.com/
anything else you may need here's a good starting point http://www.kinsale.ie/
we'll have a bit of grub for ye after the game anyway and we'll share a pint irrespective of the result
see ye then, the pitch is shown on the pic, tell your lads not to kick the ball into the sea.
(sorry its the only pic I had handy today)

It has gone very quiet on this forum of late, possibly due to the cup games dominating proceedings for the time being. No harm in discussing the other teams while the big two are touring the country representing the league - and a good job they are doing.
The newly promoted (Rock Rovers) and relegation survivors (Bansha Celtic) seem to have progressed somewhat this season and who knows with a few freaky results they could actually make the league go the distance before declaring a winner with 3 games to go ( like as every other year ).
So will the big two come back from their cup runs and dominate the league again or will the smaller teams cause an upset.........opinions?

I think I'm going out on a limb here, but the top 2 will still be dominating when they return from National cup duty!!! :D
They quite simply have too much for the rest of the teams in the league; they can up the level of their play at will it seems!
IMO, this will be the easiest league title that Clonmel Town will ever win, with Michael's about 5/6 points behind in 2nd!
( Bring on the abuse!! ) ;)

Town are in a strong position but they still are only half way thorugh their campaign. They still have to go to Peake, Bansha and play Michael's again. I don't think that it is the easiest we will win and its not over yet.
Still if we were to win it, five in a row would be a great achievement
Well done to Tony Scully on his call up to the Irish squad, long over due

I do not agree with it being that easy for the top two of previous years. As said Clonmel Town have Bansha Celtic home and away and Bansha will know that any result from those games will put them right up there at the end with Clonmel Town and St.Michaels. I think personally Michaels are after the FAI and that will possibly take up their concentration, although stopping Clonmel from winning "5" in a row must be playing on their minds too :D

Rock Rovers were beaten on pens by Celtic on Sunday, with premier football guaranteed next season the Rock players are just looking forward to a crack at Town to wind down a pretty ok season we also have to play Michaels so we could have a big say as to where the league trophy ends up.....
anyone know the story with regards promotion/ relegation from div 1/prem. clonmel town B finished 2nd in div 1. seens that they cant get promoted does that mean that the team that came 3rd in div 1 gets promoted or will only 1 team get relegated from the premier

A very tall order I admit but here goes -
Viewing St Michaels FC web site noticed that back in 1985 they produced a souvenier history booklet. Would anyone know how I could obtain a copy ?
Tall order considering nearly 20 years ago but you never know ?
the book you want is the history of the tsdl . it was released back in 1993 has mass amount of history on michaels im sure everything that was in the 1985 booklet is in the tsdl book plus loads more. massive amount of info on clonmel town, peake villa, cahir etc in the book also

Rock Rovers saftey in the top div was guaranteed a long time ago which was the main objective for the season, with nothing left to play for 90% of the squad are playing hurling, football, etc so they couldnt field a team.I think the chance of Rock playing there last 2 fixtures are very, very slim....:(
