The FAI have changed the Sligo Rovers vs Shamrock Rovers game to the friday night for TV coverage. It's a disgrace that they can do this 8 days before the game. Loads of fans travelling to Sligo won't be able to get a half day at such short notice. Neither club was aware of the change this morning and there has been no email sent from the FAI regarding it.

Another example of the fai not giving a ****ing **** about the loyal fans in the league:mad:

Our supporters club had to give a non refundable deposit for the hotel on the sat night which we've now lost. Unbelievable.

Surely, it's the tv station that changes the match?

Surely they can't do it without the go ahead from the clowns in merrion square? There has to be certain conditions to these things, you can't just go changing things 8 days beforehand.

The clubs bend their backs to the tv coverage. If TG4 asked Sligo to change to Friday to get €3k, do you think they'd turn it down?

It's like Sky in England. They call the shots, on what games they want. Everyone else has to put up with the inconvenience. But the latest they can change a date, is 10 days before the match.

Of a matter of interest how much do we get for this game in TV revenue €7.5k? And do the away team get €2.5k?

Tv money is split as follows:
3,000 euro to home team
2,000 euro to away team

That is shocking kind of money for both teams. Tupences:mad:
Although i am sure it is different kind of money for the different stations. TG4 has a very very small budget in comparison to TV3 & RTE.
RTE and TV3 would be giving more than that for sure?

I thought TG4 only pay home team and it's RTE that pay both(more money too)?

Agreed it's very short notice but clubs like Sligo are crying out for live television coverage so you can't have it both ways.

"TG4 has a very very small budget in comparison to TV3 & RTE.

Are you for real? TG4 coverage of the League is as good as if not better than RTE's and a hell of a lot better then TV3's surely anyone can see that. as far as I know the 5 grand payment fee is for every game televised regardless of channel aired on so both clubs will benifit.

I didn't say that their coverage is any worse or any better. I said nothing of the like!(Read the post) All i said was that RTE and TV3 have way bigger budgets than TG4 and i know that for fact!!.
So teams would demand more money off the likes of RTE & TV3 than TG4.

Regardless of peoples anger about fixture changing in general 8 days notice is not close to acceptable. The least you should expect is abit of clarity.

But they wouldn't get it, so they take the money and run.

First season they showed highlights. Showed 2 live games. Think they showed Pats in Cork at strt of 2003 season too

8 days notice is far too shot

in this case, why cant they just push it back till 8.30 kick off. Leave work at 5 from tallaght and you would be down in sligo by 8 possibly a little later, but in time for kick-off, its not ideal but at least it helps somewhat.

It's on TG4. "Sacar beo" is like any other television series they show and it has it's time slot. That wont be changed for Shamrock Rovers or any other team unfortunately.

Our bus leaves from town as most people work in town. If we left at 5pm it'd be at least 6pm if not later be the time we get to the N4. Also hotel has no rooms for the friday night and we've lost our original deposit because of the late cancellation. It's also no good for the two members travelling from England to Dublin on the saturday morning.

Maybe the Rovers board should front a defiant league-wide boycott of the Irish language.

F*cking around with the fixtures for a match with such a distance between the two teams with that kind of paltry notice is beyond ridiculous, though. Total sympathy for the fans with the plans.

This is yet another sympton that is the disaster of Friday Night football. Whatever tv money Sligo make from it, will be lost by the reduced crowd, of both home and away fans. We can't go to it, they don't want to go to it, as Friday nights don't work up there. In other countries, they move games at short notice from Saturday to Sunday, and vice versa. Here, weekend games are moved to Friday and Monday nights. No wonder crowds are down.
