Ooh it's just like 'Never Mind The Buzzcocks'!!!

In his best Sean Hughes impression (I'm aware he's left!)

Well clearly he's been seeing a girl with the unusual surname of 'Tomorrow' and I think that either she's pregnant because then it's all about life and other such lifely themes or else... or else he's sleeping with her mum and he doesn't want her to find out for as long as possible because well... obviously sleeping with your girlfriend's mum will complicate your relationship unless your girlfriend is very open-minded indeed.

And did anybody here know that Sean Hughes is a Crystal Palace fan?

Three come to mind:-

"I love my baby cos she does good sculptures"
The Rezillos - "Good Sculptures"

"Beware of the Flowers cos I'm Sure They're Gonna Get You, Yeah!"
John Otway & Wild Willy Barrett - "Beware of the Flowers"

"There's a Guy Works Down the Chipshop Swears he's Elvis."
Kirsty McColl

Something bout hanging out with Sonny and Cher.

"You were the first girl in school to get breasts,
And Martin said that you were the best,
All the boys all loved ya but i was mess, i had to watch them try to get ya undressed ,
We were friends that was as far as it went,
i used to walk ya home sometimes but it meant,
ah it meant nothing to ya,
Cos you were so popula."

Anything that Joe Strummer/Mick Lones wrote, a few of my favourites-
"love and hate tattooed across the knuckles of his hands,
the hands that slap his kids around cos they don't understand"
"I believe in this, and it's been tested by research
he who ****s nuns will later join the church"
"And you're minding your own business carrying spare change,
You wouldn't cosh a barber though you're hungry all the same,
I been very tempted to grab it from the till
I been very hungry but not enough to kill"
"The new groups are not concerned, with what there is to be learned,
They got Burton suits, ha you think it's funny
turning rebellion into money"

That just reminded me of the greatest lyrics ever contained all in one song.

Pavement - 'Shady Lane'

"A whiter shade of neck of a redder shade of thrash"

and

"You're so beautiful to look at when you cry"

and

"Freeze, don't move, you've been chosen as an extra in the movie adaptation of the sequel to your life."

They're 5 miles high as the crow flies
leavin' vapour trails against a blood red sky
Movin' in from the East toward the West
with Balaclava helmets over their heads, yes!

But if you think that Jesus Christ is coming
Honey you've got another thing coming
If he ever finds out who's hi-jacked his name
He'll cut out his heart and turn in his grave

Islam is rising
The Christians mobilising
The world is on its elbows and knees
It's forgotten the message and worships the creeds

It's war, she cried, It's war, she cried, this is war
Drop your possessions, all you simple folk
You will fight them on the beaches in your underclothes
You will thank the good lord for raising the union jack
You'll watch the ships out of harbour
and the bodies come floating back

If the real Jesus Christ were to stand up today
He'd be gunned down by the C.I.A.
Oh, the lights that now burn brightest behind stained glass
Will cast the darkest shadows upon the human heart
But God didn't build himself that throne
God doesn't live in Israel or Rome
God belong to the yankee dollar
God doesn't plant the bombs for Hezbollah
God doesn't even go to church
And God won't send us down to Allah to burn
No, God will remind us what we already know
That the human race is about to reap what it's sown

The world is on its elbows and knees
It's forgotten the message and worships the creeds
Armageddon days are here again

All I can recomend is listen to the song in fact the whole album it is fantastic, these lyrics are brilliant but put with the music you'll find it hard to put back, once you hear this album you will copy it or buy it, it's circa 90's

Oddboy if you like Johnny Mar get this it is a must. Conor 74 if I can ever recomend an album to you it's this.

"give him a ball and a yard of grass,
he'll give you a move with a perfect pass
give him a ball and a yard of space

raaa taa taat taa taaat"

"a man can no greater love then to give 90 minutes to his friends"

"if god meant game to be played up there
he would've put goal posts in the air
if god meant game to be played up there
he would've put goal posts in the air

if god meant game to be played up high
he would've built pitches in the sky
if god meant game to be played up high
he would've built pitches in the sky (Die!)"

dear god, hope you got the letter and...
i pray you can make it better down here
i dont mean a big reduction in the price of beer
but all the people that you made in your image
see them starving on their feet
'cause they dont get enough to eat from god,
i cant believe in you

dear god, soory to disturb you but...
i feel that i should be heard loud and clear
we all need a big reduction in amount of tears
and all the people that you made in your image
see them fighting in the street
'cause they cant make opinions meet about god,
i cant believe in you
did you make disease and the diamond blue?
did you make mankind after we made you?
and the devil too!

dear god dont know if you noticed but.....
your name is on a lot of quotes in this book
and us crazy humans wrote it, you should take a look
and all the people that you made in your image
still believe that junk is true
well i know it aint, and so do you, dear god
ii cant believe in
i dont believ

i wont believe in heaven and hell
no saint, no sinners, no devil as well
no pearly gates, no thorny crown
youre always letting us humans down
the wars you bring, the babes you drown
those lost at sea and never found
and its the same the whole world 'round
the hurt i see helps to compound
that father, son and holy ghost
is just somebodys unholy hoax
and if youre up there you'd percieve
that my hearts here upon my sleeve
if theres one thing i dont believe in

its you
dear god

How many times have you heard someone say
If I had money, I will do things my way
But little they know, that it's so hard to find
One rich man in ten with a satisfied mind

Money can't buy back all your youth when you're old
A friend when you're lonely, oh peace to your soul
The wealthiest person is a pauper at times
Compared to the man with a satisfied mind

My life is over and my time has run out
My friends and my loved ones
I will leave them no doubt
But one things for certain
When it comes my time
I'll leave this old world, oh yeah oh yeah, with a satisfied mind
One things for certain, when it comes my time, oh yeah,
I'll leave this old world, oh with a satisfied mind
Mind mind mind mind, satisfied mind

Yeah the Byrds did a version.

Off the top of my head ;) it was wriiten by R.Hayes and J. Rhodes.
Orginally done by Porter Wagoner who had a country hit with it (however they are) and also by Hamilton Camp (never heard of them or he either).
