That Nigerian story is hilarious! Was the lad actually playing with Cobh u21s when he was called up?!
I'm sure soccerc will remember a Zairian (?) international playing with St Francis, I think his name was Amir Zola.
From what I remember Galway United's only "exotic" players have come from Barbados. After Lavine, Watson and Lucas we signed their captain Llewellyn Riley, he arrived about 3 months late, played 60 minutes in the ****ing rain in Cork and never played again!
A Brazilian was playing with Dungannon last season called Everaldo, scored against Pat's in the Setanta but a penalty against Linfield in the cup final shoot-out.

We had a nigerian who played in the 2000 olympic games. And he also played in the German second division at some stage I think. James Igwilo
Are you sure he played in the Olympics?
I can't find him listed in the squad anywhere (inc here- http://www.sportscheduler.co.sz/olympics2000.htm)
I saw Nigeria play at these Olympics (in fact I was in the tunnel pre-match for their game Vs Australia. Don'tcha just love accreditation mixups!) and I didn't recall this guy at all. A quick google suggests only your commenst and Kildare FCs Wikipedia entry list him as having played at the Olympics.
No sign of Igwilo here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Football_at_the_2000_Summer_Olympics_-_Men%27s_team_squads

Nigerian international Dominic Iorfa played with the Blues for a while. I think he's chairman of some club in Nigeria now

It was in the Kildare County programmes and all that he did, Im pretty sure he played in them. Il have a look around and report back!
EDIT- Yeah I cant find anything on him playing in the Olympics myself. It Definately Stated In the Kildare County Programmes though that he did play in them. All I could find was that he played in the under 17 World Cup in 1995. And his ex-clubs include MSV Duisberg & Shelbourne

I'd forgotten all about that guy, though I can't recall his name or even if he really was from the Congo. Amir Zola doesn't ring any bells.
I'll go back through my records to see if I can find his profile.

According to kickoffnigeria.com: "He was an absolute disaster with top stars like Joseph Yobo coming out to blast officials of the Nigerian FA for dragging the good name of Nigerian football in the mud with such a call-up."
Sounds like the Joe Lapira of Nigeria!
