This is from the Bray People paper:

The Slevin Group were this week confirmed as Bray Wanderers new shirt sponsor for the 2003 season.

One of Ireland's leading Office Suppliers to the corporate market, they previously enjoyed a similar position between 1990 and 1996 which included the famous 1990 FAI Cup success.

'We were heavy involved in talks with three main international companies,' revealed Bray Chairman Eddie Slevin.

'We were certain that one of them would could on board. But it fell through at the last minute, mainly due to market decline.'

'At the end of the day, the Slevin Group will continue sponsorship reliability like we hard with Hard Metal and ntl,' he continued.

No financial figure has been put on the deal or it's duration but Slevin admitted it was on a par with with most eircom League sponsorships.

The announcement comes less than a month after Adidas remained on as kit sponsor until the end of the 2004 campaign.

'It's great that we have continued a relationship with Adidas. Even after we were relegated, they stayed with us and for that we are grateful,' beamed Slevin.

And as exclusively revealed in last week's Bray/Wicklow People, the Seasiders are to host an English Premiership Club in the coming weeks.

Although not yet confirmed, it is believed Wanderers opposition will either be Newcastle United, Liverpool or Blackburn Rovers - all of whom Pat Devlin has previously worked for as a scout until three years ago.

The only stumbling block appears to whether or not the Carlisle Grounds will be ready to host the glamour tie following redevelopment work.

In other news, it is understood that the letter Wanderers sent to the League at the start of February to the Board of Control - in their examining of Drogheda United in relation to their membership of the League - could be on the agenda at the eircom League's AGM in Athlone tomorrow (March 21).
