Reaction to Bohs Fans allegations about Rovers fans thread

It'd be a worse place if everyone posted up rumours which they themselves cannot prove. Did you not see the thread in which Rovers fans were accused of racism?

was anything actually done by the mods about that, or did he only ban Rovers fans for reacting?

Copping out of what? The threads locked, Bohs fans have failed to prove thir allegations, and the majority of those who posted highlighted this. All your doing is looking to score points over Bohs fans.

You have left the allegations stand. All you as a mod have done is say they were unproven and left people the opportunity to prove them. You are very pointedly leaving the allegations there and as such lending them credibility, and telling me I'm point scoring?

But they haven't been proven false. How can you, or anybody, prove that no racist comments/sounds were made? As Risteard and Dodge have said, the allegations haven't been proven, and the majority of posters have agreed on this. Dodge's unwillingness to edit the last post does not lend any credibility to them at all.

thats a preposterous position to have. a named bohs staff member was claiming he had evidence that we racially abused Mansaram. He has later withdrawn that charge and I belive admitted he made it up for a laugh. No-one else heard anything, Rovers, Bozo or neutral.

If that doesnt prove it false I dont know what does.

No other club has to put up with this constant barrage of false stories and innuendo and this sort of perversion of logic.

so why have forum rules about posting rumour? or mods for that matter?

this allegation has surfaced on other boards without the qualifications it got here. i have no doubt that there would have been a different official reaction if these lies were about Pats, Bohs or Cork.

I have made my point. As with the Tallaght Echo article on the foot.ie campaign, the mods cop out again and dont act until a Rovers fan objects, ban them, and then bin the discussion in support. While leaving the offending posts sitting there.

The onus is on the original poster to prove it true, having made the allegation, and this hasn't been done.

"I believe".....should we just take your word for it? And I dont believe that the original poster has (as of yet) withdrawn the allegation, just apologised for introducing the topic in the way they did, without evidence at hand at that time to pove it. (If I am wrong on this, feel free to correct me)

I'm not trying to say that the allegations have any foundation in truth, and indeed I think there is no truth to them, mainly as if there were, the evidence would have been produced by now.

My point is that you saying that nobody heard it or saw it is not enough, by itself, to make it obviously false. It has neither been proved true or untrue, although the onus is very much on those who introduced the allegation to prove it true, not Rovers fans (or others) to have to disprove it.

My original post (perhaps poorly written) was not trying to say that unless you could prove something that is unproveable, then you are still under suspicion. But given that the original poster has not retraced his claim, I would not say that the issue has been "proven" to be false, to the degree you believe.
