View Full Version : Is Turner worth €120K

Bohs have shelved plans to sign former Ireland U21 Steven Dawson, because it would cost them €120,000. He had agreed a 2 year deal last week with them.
The problem for Bohs was that his last club (Mansfield Town)had not released him, and he is under 24. So his former club would be entitled to compensation.
What is the difference between Dawson and Turner?
Could we expect such a fee for Turner?

All systems go for Connor

Bohemians v Bray Wanderers: Bohemians manager Sean Connor hopes to complete a deal to bring forward Chris Turner's arrival from Sligo Rovers over the course of today. The midfielder has already signed a pre-contract agreement with the Dublin club but Rovers had insisted on receiving a fee for the player if he wished to make the move before the end of the season.

From what I hear from the bohs fans Connor is under a bit of pressure already as a lot of them are not happy with the type of football his teams play and his lack of activity in the transfer market, reckon he needs to produce turner to applease the fans.

To be honest i would prefer if Turner could leave in July and we get a good fee for him. This would also make room in the wage buget for the couple of players we badly need to bring in this month.

What happened to the Vincent Nally idea where there was going to be £50000 raised for players?

I wouldn't say he is under pressure as the results have been pretty good so far. I'd more say that we are slightly unhappy with the style of football we play. Mind you if it somehow won us the league I'd doubt you'd hear to many complaints.

Has there been any confirmation of his move? Cook didn't mention it yesterday in his press conference.

Turner has left, i heard from a good source we recieved 10k up front and 30k at the end of season, so in essence its 40k, cos we can bank of that coming our way. The syndicates should be in place by next week and the fund available thereafter. Havent/Wont be signing Docherty due to high cost!

If theres a sell on clause in the Turner deal its money in the bank. Definitely the best of them that the gnome took with him.

The club most likely got a sell on clause. Because a few weeks back Toolan made it obvious that Turner would only leave for a lump sum and a substantial sell on clause. It all depends how much of a sell on clause we get though.

Cmak, you just don't understand the system, do you?. Because Chris Turner is under 24 Rovers have to be compemsated by whatever club he goes to on a 'free' transfer.

Stupid if they got rid of him for that kind of money. A good run in the cup would bring in 3 times more than that and he could have been the man to propell us to it.
That is bloody tupences

Yap but Midgit the big thing would be to get a sell on %, and from what i heard was meant to be in it.
Yes. But a 'sell on clause' only counts if the lad moves to another club for a lump fee during his contract. If he sees out his contract at Bohs and moves on a bosman, Sligo Rovers recieve nothing. So come down to it Rovers may recieve nothing else for him than the 20k.
