This is a paragraph taken from "Gadsby". What is wrong with this passage?

No 3. The answer is sand.

No7. The answer is sleight.

No 9. The answer is he had one eye, there were 2 plums, he took one.

7 - sleight is wrong? Its a seven letter word, you take away sl and you're left with eight.......whats wrong with that?
