Fair play. He was a decent footballer, for all the stick he got. I recall him playing for Palace against Blackburn when he was being touted for a move during the Dalglish era. The Palace fans started singing "There's only one Geoff Thomas", to which the Blackburn fans mischieveiously chanted back "There's only one Geoff Thomas".

The "chip" gave me many hours of pleasure back in the day, but anyone who came up the ranks as he did, and, moreso than many at the time, deserved his International chance is worthy of respect. And that before you factor in all the other stuff, not least the great victory he has had over cancer.

From his playing days, I always remember him for always going on about wanting to play for city, until they actually put an offer in for him, and then he legged it to Wolves. :D
