gattuso are you having a laugh. ireland need either a proper goal scorer or a playmaker.

in that case i would take either: Toni or Fabregas

Wayne bloody bridge, Englands 3rd right back- Jesus. I'd go for Tevez bit of passion, but i'd imagine we'd have to go European so Klose. Carsley is better than Lampard!!

England's second choice left back. And I rate him far higher than Cashley

I think if we could get one player asking for a left back is a bit unimaginative. Defensive midfielder who contributes a few goals would be perfect, or failing that a proven goalscorer, Torres? Toni? Totti? Van Nistellrooy?

Actually Englands 2nd choice left backIf you could wish for a player, surely you'd wish for someone's first choice in that position :)

I was jokin bout the tackling part but not bout paul scholes. He's a class act and how there wasnt a bigger fuss made when he retired internationally shows how uneducated the majority of the english are

To be honest, Gattuso would be class. I think he'd give Ireland the space to run things. Plus he'd lay into any of the Irish lads who were getting above their station.

If given a choice though I'd plump for Steven Gerard over Gattuso. He's a truly outstanding player in every way. He's also a great leader which is what we really need. Pity his granny didn't buy him a world cup 90 shirt!!

Creatively, Kaka and Messi are the two best players in the world, but I think we need a Gerard type player more.

Ossie Ardiles wore number 2 for Argentina in one world cup, and I'd certainly pick him circa 1978-82!

Pft.... Ossie wore the No.1 jersey!, (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1982_FIFA_World_Cup_squads#Argentina)
The No. 2 jersey was worn by Hector Baley (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/H%C3%A9ctor_Baley) who had a less than distinguished career.

Maradona. The other 10 can just watch him play like his teammates did during Mexico '86, that should suit JOS in particular.

Probably Kaka or Tevez. Maybe we need a Gattuso more though.

Schwartzenegger would have the muscle in midfield and has a bit of experience now as a leader. I'm sure that he could organise a goal trading deal with the likes of Germany who have more than they need. The biggest problem would be to pass the drugs test.

Stallone would be handy back up to Shay Given - he's good on penalties.

Quandry, do you go for a
Gatusso, Essien, Fabergas, Gerrard etc.. someone to run the midfield
or
Cannavaro, Terry, Nesta, Matterazzi etc.. to marshall the back 4
or
Ronaldiniho, Messi, Kaka even Rooney etc.. for the occasional glimpses of brilliance to make you drool.

Personally I'd bring Roy out of retirement ;)

i've changed my mind after watching copa america. Veron or Riquelme would do us nicely.

bellavistaman
12/07/2007, 2:59 PM
is veron still palyin well?

billybunter
12/07/2007, 4:13 PM
not sure if its because he's surrounded by messi, tevez, riquelme, Heinze, zanetti, cambiasso, but Veron has been sensational in the copa america. I have also seen him in the argentine league this year, and he really looks a different class in every game. I think when he is surround by ike minded players (quick one touch, short link up style football) he really looks superb. I think Robbie keane would really benefit from a veron style player in the center of the park, cause veron would pick out his every run with a one touch pass. If you can get to see highlights of the Arg /mexico game from last night, It would be 90 minutes well spent. Veron was even biting into tackles! -something he never really managed at United.
