A win against Shels and we'll only be a point off what would have been an acceptable return for these three games :p

I predicted we'd win 1-0 tonight, but I'll take the draw :D Wonder how we went about it though....

Shels had a decent enough result tonight and came back twice. I see another draw on the horizon Friday night

Great result especially considering our recent poor form, hope this improves the morale of players and fans. Great to see Nigel Keady back also.

Tierney & Grant, they from Wembley ? How did they do ? (Anyone at the game btw ? )

Ya they are both from Wembley!! Grant only got 2 mins!! Finnucane didnt travel and Molan was injured so it was a weakened defence!! Danaher had a reasonable game at centre back and white's performance was improved since friday!! Overall good result but Limerick played for the draw in my opinion!! Bring on Shels on Friday!!

Kevin Waters missed an absolute sitter - 8 yards out and keeper on the gorund but he blazed over. Keeper also made a great save minutes later. These were the best 2 chances of the game.

Still a draw was a fair result. Dundalk had most of the play but created little. We played very well and looked very solid. Dundalk fans were very compliemntary about our performance.

We must beat Shels now.

Team:Ryan, Keady, Danagher, Purcell, Buckley, White, Hayes, Wall (Grant, 92), McCarthy (Tierney, 70), Cosgrave (Maloney, 86), Waters.

Waters miss was quite unbelieveable. A real 'What happened next?' type thing you'd see on Question of Sport. Bennion made a major error, the ball fell to him and you would have thought theres no way he can miss this.......

David Ryan made one fine save, and they had only one other real chance I can think of. Peter McCarthy had a decent chance for us, but all in all that was about it. 0-0 a fair result, and it makes a big difference actually coming out of that place not having lost for a change....

Robbie, Wayne Colbert, Carthy and Finny back in that side and I'm sure we'll go up....If Ski takes off his 'I Love Rossi' glasses for a while.

This is a bit of a contradiction. The current boys got the "good result" should they not get the credit without reservation???Weird ambiguous message to try and take on board....particularly if your a current player?

A bit like the posts about Keith Hartnett, who I add I know nothing about but as far as I know he is a left full and the cries came out to sign him on the basis that he was so good he would walk into the team. The extended suggestion would be to replace Brian Buckley but Buckley, and the dogs on the street know this, was the best left back, maybe even best defender in Limerick Junior football by far.So on that logic how is Hartnett going to improve the situation???

Keith Hartnett is a central midfielder, and an attacking one at that, so yes, you do know nothing about him. I'm sure those dogs on the street, if they know their football, will tell you that Chucka is suffering this season, and is perhaps finding the step up from junior to senior football too much for him. So, on your logic, placing an attack minded central midfielder at left back will solve our problems? Strange rationale there.

Regarding the 'current boys'. Yes, they deserve credit for their result last night, but the 'new boys' will add more impetus to the squad and bring in vital experience that will only benefit the club in the short and long term, so I see nothing weird or ambiguous about any of that.

Thats such a riduclous statement!! First of all keith Hartnett will not even think of replacing Chukka as he is a centre attacking midfielder so thats stupid, secondaly do u seriously think Ski and his management team decided to sign Hartnett because they were listening to what the fans or as u put it "dogs on the street" are saying!! Thats riduclous, he obviously has gone to see him play and train before:confused:!! So on that logic u should go to see more Limerick matches too see that Buckley does not play Limreick Junior football anymore :D

So ,let me get this straight.3 young lads,Danagher,McCarthy and White played against the top team, who were set up to play in the premiership, away from home ,where Limerick teams traditionally lie down and die, come away with a creditable draw and just miss out on a win.Not Bad!!!!
These 3 lads the latter in particular have been getting nothing but slagging on this site and certainly no support from people who claim to be supporters.Thank God Ski is the manager, and lets give him credit here for the team he picked, and not some of the fortune tellers we get on here!!!
See if you can get this right???What day is tomorrow???

Ski had no other choice than to play those young lads and only a small minority were slagging him, but I was saying dont put down your own players but still I would say that I am not blind and I can see that at least two out of the three young lads you mentioned are not up to the standard of senior soccer......yet.. and i say yet because they are young players!! and thats not slagging them off its seeing whats in front of me at every match!!

Fair enough but I dont think we have seen enough of them to say whether they are good or bad.White and Im not his uncle has shown gradual improvement everytime he has played,in particular I like his pace.
In the meantime supporters should send out positive signals on anyone who pulls on the blue jersey.

I heard on saturday that Gill wants to leave Dundalk and theres a bit of unrest up there, anybody hear anything while ye were up there, would be great for us and ye if he jumped ship.

Sounds like speculative nonsense to me. From dundalkfc.com two weeks ago:

The past week has seen Gill linked with a move away from Dundalk as Derry City step up their hunt for a new manager. Speculation has been rife in the national media that the Dubliner could be tempted away from the border venue, but that was a notion that the 43-year-old quickly dispelled when asked would he be interested in taking over at the Brandywell. “I wouldn’t
take a wage cut!…I’m happy here, why would I want to leave a fantastic club like this?! I work for a very, very progressive board, I’ve got a great bunch of players and a fantastic bunch of supporters, so I don’t really think it gets any better than this. I can’t help speculation. I’m under contract to Dundalk until November, and I’m not like other managers in the league who have walked out on contracts.

“Managers at times be moaning when they’re sacked when they’re under contract, and then other managers walk out on contracts - I don’t, I believe in the validity of a contract. I’m going to honour the contract I have here and I would like to extend it, but that’s not down to me. I’ll just keep doing what I’m doing, which is working very, very hard with a very honest bunch of players. I have great belief in my own ability. I think Dundalk is a massive football club, there’s not too many bigger clubs than it, so why would I want to go and uproot my family and myself to go and live up the north to manage Derry City? It’s a massive job and it’s very flattering to be linked with it, but I can’t help speculation. I have a big job here, I’m with a big football club here, and I’m happy here.

“As I’ve said before about football, a pat on the back is only eighteen inches away from a kick in the arse. Football is a funny game. I’m King John here at the moment, but if I lose two football matches, it will go the opposite way - I’m a realist as well. You’re judged on results and so far, my results have been very, very good, but that’s down to the players. I also said before, that sometimes managers take too much credit when things are going well. It’s not down to me, it’s down to the players and what they do on the park, it’s down to my backroom staff and it’s down to the board of directors - I’m only a small cog in a big wheel and I can’t do what I do without the backing of everybody else. Unless Gerry Matthews tells me that my P45 is in the post, I’ll be staying here. I’ve got a great relationship with Gerry and the board, and I respect them and we’ve got great belief in each other, and I’m happy here.”

Then four days later:

Yesterday morning, Dundalk FC refused permission to Derry City to talk to
manager, John Gill, and last night, the 43-year-old gave his thoughts to
dundalkfc.com on the approach from the Candystripes. Speaking after a squad training session at Oriel Park as his side prepare for Saturday’s crunch clash with Cobh Ramblers, Gill stated that he has absolutely no intention of breaking his contract with the Louth club, which runs until next November.
“Gerry (Matthews [Dundalk CEO]) rang me to say that Derry City had approached the club. Gerry, in fairness to him, informed me of the Derry interest, but he also told me that he wanted me to stay. I have a contract here that I signed last year, which is up in November, and I don’t believe in breaking contracts - I’ve said that all along. Other managers might, but I don’t, I think I’m an honourable person and I think Gerry Matthews is an honourable person. I have a very good relationship with him, he was up front with me and told me that they were interested, but once he told me that he wanted me to stay, it was out of my hands." And, when asked whether or not he would accept a job from a club like Derry City at the end of his current contract with Dundalk, Gill said: “I’m not going to speculate…I’m with a big football club. It’s down to the club what happens. Another little saying - if my aunty had balls, she’d be my uncle. I can’t speculate on speculation, all I can do is focus on the best possible job I can do here, and that’s what I’m trying to do.”

Liverpool fans like Cisse's pace, but they still know that he's not up to it in most other areas. White has the positional sense of a blind man with no arms, there's a strange magnetic force that has him twirling around in circles or keeps attracting him in to central areas. Not to mention that he misses headers and the ball bounces over his head at least 17 times every game. Now if you think this guy is up to it, and coupled with the fact you thought Keith Hartnett is a full back, as JoeSoap said you definately need to lay off the smoke.
