View Full Version : Agadir
Heading to Morocco on Saturday for a week and gonna be staying in Agadir.
Anyone been there before and have recommendations/warnings?
Just got back over the weekend so if anyone thinking of going,
heres some info:
- Fierce warm (being Africa and all :p)
- They say they can guarentee 350 days of sunshine per year
- 8 days I was there the temp was rarely under 30 deg. Lowest was 28 deg.
- Fine if your into sun holidays and doing not much else, can be fairly
boring if your not into sunning yourself for 8 hours a day
- Shopkeepers very annoying trying to get you to go into their shop/resteraunt.
- Lost count of the amount of times we left a resteraunt, only to be accosted
at the door by the waiter of the place next door, trying to get us to go in
despite only finishing a meal!
- They look for tips for everything. Can get annoying when you buy a coke
from a shop only to be hassled for a tip because they handed the drink
to you!
- Mrs Ash didnt get much hassle when I was around, but the one time she
went to the shop without me she noticed a very different/sleezy/
ignorant vibe from shopkeepers and locals on the street.
On the plus side:
- Hotel Kenzi Europa was nice enough and had decent facilities
(gym, spa, pool, tennis basketball and football courts, bar, buffet resteraunt)
- Done a 4 wheel drive trip to the pre Sahara which was very good
Unfortunately my SD card corrupted so I lost all my pics
- The Kasbah is cool to see and the panoramic views of the beach, city
and harbour are very nice. And yes, I rocked it :D
Neither of us are one's for the sun (bit silly going to North Africa then!) but it
was a cheap deal cos it was a teacher inspection trip (Mrs Ash place was free), and we decided to give it a go.
Good to see once but I wouldn't go back there again.

I went there several years ago and thought it was fantastic. There's not much to the town itself coz it was rebuilt after an earthquake about 100 years ago. Go on as many trips with your operator as you can as this is how you will see the real Morrocco.

Yep, it was amazing to see the difference after a 15 minute or so drive
out of the town.
