who cares. was getting worried coming towards belfield in the lashing rain at 7 oclock with the ground still closed, puddles everywhere and no one in sight.

A hard fought win it was last night. Good preformance all round bar maybe one or two.
Overall we didn't play to our best by no means but we grinded out a result with minimum of fuss really.

Great to finally get a win in Belfield. 1st time I've ever enjoyed going to a game in belfield. I thought hughes played well througout and got a well deserved goal. Judge took his goal well again, looks a completely different player from last year. I agree Faz should probably not have started he didn't look fit from the start. great to see chrissy turner fully committed. Hopefully we can push up the table now.:)

Youre right about Jugde. I didnt rate the guy at all last year and was glad to see him gone. However, I am the first to admit that I was wrong. He has been excellent in all the games I have seen him this year. Hes proven he can score regularly while a quite a number of his goals have been excellent well taken finishes, the two against Cork for example. Lets hope he can continue in this vein of form for the rest of the season.

Up to sixth. Great stuff. The last few games have shown what the squad are capable of if they can now ensure some consistency.

I may have counted more in the first half, because the eleven Sligo players were massed behind the ball at the same end of the ground as the Sligo fans - was hard to separate them at times.

Poor UCD you even counted me and my mate last year as a UCD fan because of this !:D Lot of people are reporting it down here as the worst crowd they have seen at a premier league match ever makes you think about the FAI and their super duper league when you have Dundalk and Harps in the first, no offense UCD fans.

Far better attendence than the last time we played in belfield definitly

Maybe???? In the premier division any team should be looking to attract 1,000 at very least to every game. But a Dublin team in the premier Division on a friday night should be capable of attracting that no problem if not more. (Ok the weather was bad and we all know that).
And when you see teams like UCD getting 300 home fans and Dundalk/Athlone etc getting treble that it really is a shame for the league.

How do UCD survive? Do UCD recieve funding from the College? Surely it would be difficult to run a club on such low attendances? I know that was one game but your average attendance would be 500 - 600 and the rest depends on travelling support.

Indeed. A shame that they can't use their advantage to catch us.

Minimal, as far as I know. Not much more than another club would receive from the local council. Fundraising, etc, helps as per most clubs. No great mystery. Ultimately, gate receipts don't account for that much of a club's income, so being behind there doesn't hinder as much as it could.

No. Students don't go to games, so them being gone doesn't affect anything.

Attendances are up about 10% this year.

Good result on Friday enjoyed it as like most Rovers fans i never seen us win there.

well done to the lads. a great three points taken from a place that's been a graveyard for us. 3 wins on the bounce now and long may it continue. after all that's gone on you have to admire the players spirit to push on after a bad period of results

Watching EL Weekly it would appear that the Rovers are playing some of the nicest football in the league. I too thought we had to get rid of Judge but his performances are that of someone who has confidence and a nose for goal. I was convinced he would make a mess of his goal in Belfield, but he used his head and showed a cool nerve. Look a Faz in recent time, I always rated him, but many were calling for his head, his new found drive has caused others to sit up and take notice. Even rumors that 'the chancer' Connor is after him. All this must come down to what Cook has injected into the club.

On his arrival he said, and I'm paraphrasing 'that he didn't think some of the players were up to a suitable standard, and that if they didn't raise they're game they would be gone'. It seems he has made the best out of a bad situation and provided the players with much needed confidence. If we compare how Connor executed the potentials of the players in comparison with that of Cook, there is a huge contrast and the proof is in the pudding - look at the style of football we're playing. As the lads on EL Weekly pointed out, if your gonna put passing together like we did for Hughes goal (in Belfield) there's always a chance of a goal.

I for one am very pleased at how things have panned out. Before the season started many of us thought we were up the river minus a paddle, with no manager and no recognized strikers. As things stand, one striker has jumped ship (Choice, and maybe it was no harm) and in Judge we have someone who knows where the net is and more significantly how to find it. We have to decent center halfs in McKenzie and Peers, I thought the sky was falling when Burnsie left but we have dealt with that. The midfield is holding it own too.

We do need more depth in the squad and here's hoping the window brings some new talent and more victories. I've enjoyed the season so far so well done to the lads and the Cookie Monster.

things have been going well in recent times, but I wouldnt be getting carried away as yet. It's important we stay up the league and away from the bottom places. Indeed fair play to cook since he has come in but it's too early to judge him either way at this stage. Be interesting to see who comes in during the transfer window. Players like faz, judge prob always need time to settle into the league and establish themselves and this season they are showing what they have to offer. Ideally if we could add 5 players to the squad in July then we can push on for the remainder of the season.
