Can any debate on this issue be held in a different thread, so we can use this thread to document incidents solely.

Its in the interests of the game Dodge, i mean you do want it to improve dont you, ....... Dodge? Dont you?
Or do you not agree with discipline? discipline with the interests of the game at heart i mean, surely you do Dodge*.
I mean for example, you'd hardly agree with discipline for one and not for the other? Dodge? Dodge? Surely that wouldn't be the case? Can i take this opportunity to remind you that the game is at stake here, the highest echelons of the beautiful game in the country.
** If you do have an issue with discipline then i feel that it would be better suited to be discussed in another forum, but right at this moment i am struggling to help and suggest one.

- Bohs fans jeering Barry Ryan (St Patrick Athletic) for illegal drug use - 28/05/07 -> No warning received to date
Why you've singled out Bohs there I don't know?
You may as well list the club name of every club that's played a league game against Pats this season.

Shamrock Rovers fans did not jeer Simon Webb about his wife. The fan ( singular ) who did has been dealt with and you probably know the rest.
I take it this thread is not a serious one.

Do you HONESTKY think that Bohs/Rovers being disciplined would help the game here?

They didn't ??
Surely that is not the case as several league representatives have alluded to this actually being the case. Would this not be a grave injustice being done to Shamrock Rovers Football Club if people thought of it and assumed it was common knowledge that it actually WAS the case. Might I even suggest that Shamrock Rovers Football Club take the matter further with the interest of righting this wrong.
The fan (singular) who did has been dealt with and you probably know the rest.
He HAS been dealt with? I'll be honest with you here i didn't know that, in fact i'd go so far as to say that the FAI's Disciplinary Commission have been very quiet on this particular incident. So you are saying they HAVE issued a warning on this (severe or otherwise)?? Please do tell us more?
I take it this thread is not a serious one.
Au contraire, it is actually quite the opposite. It is very serious indeed. Its in the interests of the Irish domestic game now and in the future.

Yes, i most definitely do ...... discipline Dodge, its all about the discipline.
sorry AFace but this is a load of crap.
Firstly, Rovers dealt internally with the matter about Webbs wife. The supporter was banned and as far as i know an apology was issued. What additional good would the FAI issuing "a warning (severe or otherwise)" do? Apart from rake the whole thing up again which you've managed to do.
Secondly, how in the name of god can you compare the Webb incident with the Cork and Bohs fans slagging off Ryan. Ryan f*cked up and he deserves the bit of abuse he gets over it. Banter between fans and players is part and parcel of the game (and from a fans perspective it adds to the fun). It happens EVERYWHERE. Webbys wife didnt choose to get cancer and die from it. The two incidents are poles apart.
Third, how would a punishment/warning/fine for fans jeering opposition players improve "the game" as you put it? If ever ive read a wishy washy ill-informed piece of crap then thats it. Hats off to you.
What about players that run half the length of the pitch to celebrate goals in front of opposition fans (not looking at anyone in particular Mr J Byrne)? Should they be "warned"? I dont think they should. As fans we should (and do) suck it up. However there is certainly more of an onus on players to behave responsibly than there is to stop fans from singing songs about players who snorted cocaine.
Hell maybe we should stop singing songs altogether unless theyre PG13. Poor Glen shouldnt have to be reminded constantly about his rotundity. I hear Digger cries at night cos he has issues about his height. We should probably also stop singing about Pats fans being junkies? Or Longford fans having relations with their sisters? And why should rovers have to hear about Milltown over and over? It will just upset the poor things and sure it happened years ago. Listen man, slagging opposition fans and players is part of the matchnight. Its the one thing all fans of a club have in common. Its what makes you Bohs/Rovers/Cork/Pats/Derry.

But other clubs deal with these matters internally as well and fair play to them, but the FAI's Disciplinary Commission are hit and miss on this, and this thread is merely serves to assist them.

Agreed, poles apart. Its crazy that both incidents would be compared or contrasted as the are polar opposites in my opinion.

You would have the ask the FAI's Disciplinary Commission that one, sorry cant help you out there.

Agreed, and just on that, in this case i actually think the player has got away with murder, given that he is the guy who took illegal drugs. Everyone looks bad in this situation expect the guy that broke the rules/law.
