Didn't realise he was back from Aberdeen, we should snap him up as soon as possible in my opinion, still the best player I've seen pull on the Limerick jersey, even if it was Limerick 37 twice removed

Kept building on his Limerick legend status by scoring in the Queenstown massacre last night :p

When was this?
I thought he went to Douglas Hall straight after us?

He wasnt that good at all. And obviously was up for the game more than others. I thought Dave Moore (ex Rams too) was better than Sweeny.

Was he actually on Aberdeens books? thought he got a raw deal off Dolan when he was with city. very surprised he's not playing LOI, he was studying hard tho at the time, think the committment was difficult for him to give.
Surprised he's not a Ramblers to be honest, he did play there for a couple of years schoolboys...

well in the year he was at limerick he was a class act. Over 4 years ago now though. To be honest, I thought he was a good player, a very good worker, and very much a fans favourite type. He wasn't as good as some thought him to be in my book. I preferred Gareth Cooney as a central mid player back then, and would not be doing handstands if Limerick signed him. He wouldn't be a patch on Tommy Barrett as a footballer, so if we're going to sign a central midfielder, then it should be Tommy.

Sweeney was good but not as good as some make him out to be
The year we got to the playoff...Remember that Newbies ??? when all 40 of us were at the matches in Pike, Brendan was the best player for us. A Born Leader and motivator of other players.
God Some people have very short memories:( ...either that or they were not there to witness him in action.:D

he was agreat player for rams youths too at one stage, and played reasonably well for seniors also, but if hes as good as people try to make him out to be, just because he scored against a team of zombies on the night, y was he let go by us, city and dunno what happened in Kilkenny but hes not there now anyway. I reckon we currently have 3 to 4 centre mids better than him in our current squad, Best midfielder unassigned to any club is Michael Mulconroy lads. CLASS ACT, but too many GAA commitments.

2003 John....4 years ago. He was very good that season, but then ran to Cork City, where he just couldn't cut it. I doubt he's the same player he was 4 years ago, and to be honest, I never rated him as highly as you. I do agree with you about his performances back then though.

Yea he was good, but who wouldn't be in a midfield that also had Keating, Sugrue and Heffernen?!? Not to mention Steven O'Flynn and McCarthy to supply up front. He had a great season that year, but they all did. Since then himself and Sugrue have gone backwards. It's 4 years ago and to be honest I wasn't that impressed with him on his second mini stint with us under NOC. He'd still be better than what we already have, worth signing, but not as good as he's being made out to be!
