View Full Version : Spamming

Who's the sad case who's spamming the EL MB??? It's a bit of a pathetic stunt isn't it? In all fairness lads, I woulda thought we were bigger than that here... especially given the vigilant anti-flaming and trolling that goes on. If it's not somebody from here (and I hope it's not) then maybe a post going up saying it's nothing to do with foot.ie wouldn't go amiss?

Frankly, anyone stupid enough to believe that a genuine member of Foot.ie would use such idiotic methods to get new members on the site is welcome to the eL message board.

SLK, take note. :)

Actually, that's quite interesting, since it appears to be an NTL cablemodem user in Dublin, of which there are only a few thousand.

Yet its obviously someone who feels the need to promote this forum to the detriment of the eL mb.
Just getting up peoples noses thats all.

Ditto, especially considering that the IP address above has never been used to post on Foot.ie. Errah, let the children play.

Whatever, yesterday I wouldn't have believed it but with all the childishness surrounding that Noel Mooney post earlier anything is possible. It wasn't a genuine member I was worried about but if you believe all thousand members of this community are 'genuine' you should be taking notes yourself!

In all honesty SLK, I wouldn't view the posts on that thread childish at all. Someone posted it, James moved it, and the rest of the debate was on the merits of him moving it. It's a hell of a lot more mature an argument that you'd get in other places.

As the above post suggests, I doubt it was a member at all. Just some sad tosser with no life. I almost feel sorry for them.

yeah as was done the last time the issue was raised and the thread i beleive then was deleted for the same reasons

i knew this morning this was going to happen so after consulting with another mod here it was agreed to handle it like that, by moving the threads to rubbish.
i am actually suprised there wasnt more threads on it - was expecting a barrage of them ala the pat donal ones, so in that regard i'm happy more ppl did not post on it and left the issue off a football forum.

as for debating the merits of me moving the thread - thats grand like, i think critiscm and debate no matter how critical is important and forms an integral part of the forum.

The argument which followed was certainly mature but with all due repect to James (whose posts I enjoy) rubbishing the post (as opposed to just moving it) was a knee-jerk reaction and was the wrong one and I think that behind the show of solidarity we've seen everybody knows that. As for the spamming which spawned my original post above, I'd be surprised if it was a non-member though I doubt it was one of the big names here either. Whatever, it was pretty sad and at least we agree on that! I'm home for some pancakes now but will doubtless be back for more tomorrow. :)

BTW: You said that you edited the Noel Mooney post, where can I see it now?

James

well after consulting with another moderator this morning before i even logged on, about the way to handle it, it can hardly be called a knee jerk reaction

SLK whats the number of letters in someones alias got to do with whether or not they were spamming the el board. isnt that a form of letter-racism, labelling pppl just cause of the number of letters like :D

guess it rules out joe though
my moneys on badweatherfan.. lots of letters shady mystical character.. i mean in all fairness who likes bad weather?

Anybody with the letters 'U' or 'T' in their webhandle is a goon! :p

No, I can't validate that statement but just wanted to make it.

And fine then James, forget about knee-jerk. It was just wrong! :D So be it, we'll never agree on it (unless you change your mind that is!) and it's not really worth fighting about anyway.

By the way this thread is now seriously off-topic. Don't you lot tend to get peeved when that happens??? (And yes... I'm aware that it's my fault!)

Who's the ****(s) littering the EL forum with "Join foot.ie" messages? If whoever it is actually thinks that will encourage people to start using this forum they're sadly mistaken. I'd say the animosity towards this board from the regulars of the other board has multiplied by a factor of about 10 this afternoon alone thanks to this knobend.

If on the other hand he's just trying to be an annoying €unt then I suppose he's doing a good enough job.

[Threads merged into Off Topic.]

Woggo, nuffing to do with us. This time the spammer is dialled into EsatBT, so I'd say it's an even stupider user that thought the first one was funneh. If I was you guys, I'd report him. (If it was on Foot.ie, myself and a few of the mods would be paying them a visit.)

[EDIT: By the way, the user is actually dialled in via EsatClear, which means they're an EsatBT telephony user and too dumb to use a free dialup. Much easier to track down. Off you go then, I can't be holding your hand throughout the whole process.]

Hmmm, am I to understand that all the posters here are fine upstanding members of the community? How did James fall through the net then?

Err, fair point, well made. I think we may have been asleep when James turned up? :)

whos leaving those messages below is a moron. He must live an exciting life. I doubt if its a foot.ie person as they know that they would only be narking people by doing what that sad loser is doing.
I like both boards but prefer the el messageboard, but thats just my opinion.
a few things are better on foot.ie. you wouldnt see posts that were made about the rovers keeper that appeared here for instance.
one thing annoys me about foot.ie though and that is in its attitude to non foot.ie users who they seem to treat with scorn.
the only time some foot.ie users use this board is when they are trying to drum up support for the site which isnt the way to go about things. otherwise they dont say anything, which is a bit annoying.
ill continue to use both sites though but i prefer the el message board.

Both sites are good but the numbers on the el have dropped over the last 18months

What is the min/max amout of players allowed on the field.
Is each goal one point?
Are the games done in innings or time?
Are you allowed to use your hands?

I'm getting annoyed with the behaviour of posters in this thread now. If you want to discuss this, do it somewhere else. If you don't like my policies, go somewhere else.
