View Full Version : Kevin Doyle to Cork City
Just got a text a while ago saying that City have signed Kevin Doyle from Pats. Looking for more info.
Is this a good signing? Whats his position?
in fact look here (http://www.soccercentral.ie/viewstory.asp?id=9056&mainheading=Eircom&viewstory=yes) for some reason i cant copy and paste it.
The echo reports that Dolan has offered terms to Kevin Doyle, a striker who was part of the Pats under21 side that City beat on penalties at the Cross and a member of the Irish under20 squad that played in the friendly tournament in theUAE in January.

because it's soccercentral.ie not dot copy, maybe?
What about an audacious swoop for Richard Dunne?:D
Would he be up to playing alongside Dan ?? ;)
great player. Lots of potential. One of the few players I'd be sorry to see leave.
Crap....
Just searching for info on Doyle:

This guy could be good for us up front with Flynny...

DOLAN MAKES FIRST SIGNING
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cork City manager Pat Dolan has made his first signing. Dolan has recruited 19-year-old Kevin Doyle, who was a key member of Brian Kerr's Under 20 squad. Dolan has been signed on a two year contract.
Sounds like a promising young player. He could be a very good signing and could possibly be the partner that we need for Flynny.

Dolan raids Pats for Doyle
Pat Dolan has returned to his old stomping ground to complete his first signing as Cork City manager, taking Irish youth international striker Kevin Doyle on a two-year deal from St Patrick’s Athletic.
Doyle was part of Brian Kerr’s under-20s squad for an invitational tournament in the United Arab Emirates in January, and played his part in the Irish youngsters’ success in that competition.
He was to be disappointed when the World Youth Cup finals squad was announced, with Bray Wanderers front man Eamon Zayed being the only home-based player included in the squad, which is not under the tutelage of Gerry Smyth.
But that disappointment was short-lived as, three days later, he completed the move from Richmond Park to Turners Cross to link up with Dolan.
Doyle is considered to be brimful of potential by the St Patrick’s Athletic faithful, who have now witness the departures of several players since the end of last season.
In addition to Doyle’s exit, goalkeeper Seamus Kelly has joined Bohemians, while new manager Eamonn Collins must replenish his ailing attacking options: Ger McCarthy left for Shelbourne and Philip Hughes joined Kildare County before Doyle’s move to Cork.
Also, Collins has released midfielder Robbie Griffin, defender Willie Burke and another young striker, Ciaran Quinn.
Doesn't sound like a bad signing anyway - he should be able to progress by moving up to city ;)
Anyone know what kind of forward he is? Have Pats played him on the wing at times or was that just their 4-3-3/4-5-1 formation type thing?

I hate to say it but youse have got yourselves a wee gem in Kevin Doyle, good with his back to goal, handy dribbler, not afraid with the ball at his feet. Didn't actually score for us last season but it looked like it was in the post. Kerr didn't pick him for the U20 squad in the Emirates for nothing.

Between starts and as a sub, about a dozen
According to our chairman on the official Pats site (http://www.stpatsfc.com) he was "retained" by Pats so they are looking for a fee...

What is "retained"? Either he is contracted or not. The impression I got from the various articles is that he is uncontracted but did agree to stay on, ala Rennie.
I guess what goes around, comes around :)

But surely as he is under the age of 24, the bosman ruling states that there must be a fee?
But as said above, its good to see a Dublin club crying for once about not getting a fee for a player!

according to a tabloid today pats will be demanding a fee and they r not happy with the way dolan is conducting his business
boo hoo f***ing hoo
weren't Cork fans complaining about Reynolds last week?
Anyway Pats are certain they're due a fee but stressed they will not make a legal challenge. Just spices the first game up a little more (in case it needed it :) )

Whatever Dolan did its between him & Pats & has nothing to do with CCFC.
I think Sean Thorton went from Tranmere to Sunderland last year & bosman under-age fee was agreed in tribunal which was something like £275k & would have been a lot less if Sunderland hadn't 'tapped him up' (thinkt hats the phrase anyway).
Any players moving within the eL is still going to command a very low fee in a tribunal...
Still is good to see City getting another forward on board...

Couple of bags of Chips from Lennox should sort them out for a fee.
