I'm excited.
What's the usual release date, September?

I'm hoping for an area-specific front cover. Messi, Kaka, Ronaldinho, Klose, Gamble.

Any news on whether it is all 22 league clubs or just the Premier? I can't see them putting the First Division in it tbh.

I'd say you're out of luck harps. I don't even think the Bundesliga and Spanish leagues have the second tier in it.

They do have them.

This is great news. I know a lot of people prefer Pro Evo but at least FIFA have stepped up and added our league. It will bring exposure to the el all over the world and some much-needed at home too.

Gaelic Games got an awful press.
I didn't think it was that bad.
Would love a hurling game.

it was a cheap conversion of an aussie rules game. they hadn't even bothered changing some of the rules.

I know we were definitely informed of it a while back, so looks like the First Div will be in.

Kits are to be included as well, they specified what file formats to ask to get from your kit supplier.

This is splendid news, although I'm no fan of the series.

I wonder if it would profit Sports Interactive to approach the FAI again. Under the ancien regime they struggled to get the courtesy of a response to licensing queries for Football Manager and when they did, the figures requested were unrealistically astronomical.

Dropped our disc into the FAI on Wednesday.

We had to give them Kits, PLayer head shots, and stats for each player.

I'll have to purchase 1 of them playstation thingys i suppose!

Is it any good on PC?

I'm so excited!

Very unlikely considering they only have about 5 Premiership grounds.

 the eircom league has been in FM for the last 5 editions

It hasn't been licensed though (which would allow them to use badges, headshots etc), and they've had no co-operation at all from the FAI regarding stats and suchlike, despite repeated requets.

Ah, ok. Well, the FAI didnt require clubs to take standardised headshots like other leagues have. no excuses for the crests though as they have done that this year. be thankful though, it could've ended up like germany - fake names

Heh - the 8th is my birthday - and the day after the Bohs - Rovers tea party in Dalymount.

I envisage scenes of kids all over the world arguing over who should be Bray Wanderers :D

When Sensible world of Soccer first came out, a mate of mine who was from Monaghan always used to insist on being the Mons even though they were proabably the worst team in the game.

i think what will happen is that the premier will be in the game no doubt about that but the first division teams will be in the cups but you wont be able to select them as your team! like football manager when u have a cup game against some 3rd tier italian club.......

Like in Fifa 2001-2, when the season finished, 3 teams went up, and who ever went down came straight back up. So like there was only 3 other teams in the english league. (crystal Palace, Birmingham, and someone else it was)

In fairness, it's a lot easier to create a football management game with no facepacks and at times dodgy attributes than a 3D game with player likeness. That said, I get your point and I do believe it should have been done earlier. And for you Pro Evo fans, there is a great chance that the Eircom League will be featured next year if not the year after. The Konami people will be taking a look at selling figures and may notice a certain jump in the Irish market and put 2 and 2 together.

no, they're getting rico to record the 2nd commentator's position. that way, he can still say something completely irrelevant to the situation, but sound convincing at the same time!

I presume it's like the Ice Hockey games where you can take the gloves off and that.. :p Not sure they'll be able to program in the option of having a scrap BEFORE the game though.

Just back from the EA FIFA 08 launch in Templebar here in Dublin. TV3 in attendance along with a few radio stations, Newstalk I think being one of them. All the lads from the clubs, McCourt, Ndo, Hunt, Kearney etc. were wearing football kits with the EA logo on the front.

A few photos with taken with them and Fran Gavin and then a few shots for TV3 playing around with a ball. Well organised too. A woman from the FAI approached me when she saw me taking pics, introduced herself and ask who I was there for. She also offered me a press release despite my far from professional credentials! The press release stated that it'll be the 12 teams from the premier league only that will feature in the game so looks like us in the first division will have to wait a wee while longer!

Have a few pics which I hope to post this eveing.

Fran Gavin, Director of the FAI eircom League of Ireland said: "Having the eircom League of Ireland included in FIFA 08 will enable people around the world to play FAI eircom League of Ireland fixtures on their computer consoles.”

Some penetrative analysis from the G-Man there, really earning his corn.
