How many church (or other place of worship) steeples are visible from normal spectator areas of current eircom League grounds? And can any particularly incurable geek name each church?

Disclaimer: I can answer neither.

The Cathedral in Sligo. The clock face is handy when Rovers are sweating it out for a win or looking to get back into it. The Protestant Church, St John the Baptist is next door but dont think its visible from the Showgrounds. It hasnt got a steeple though.

Turners Cross church can definitely be seen from the Donie Forde, and I think also from the Shed and St Annes.

Wasn't it originally the Lourdes Stadium before it morphed into 02 and then United Park?

no, lourdes stadium was a different ground - located about 500 metres from united park - it backs onto the same graveyard that is across the road from united park. still used as a pitch for a couple of junior sides in the meath & district league i think.

Our stand is faced in the right direction to see St Macartan's Cathedral, must check out tonight if it can be seen.
(i think not, probably obscured by a hill)

I think there can be one seen from Dalymount is it St Pauls

St. Peters. Can't see it from the Jodi though as its behind us. If you were sitting up the back of the connaught st though I'd say you'd see a fair few steeples.

Mater Dei can be seen from the main stand and new stand in Tolka. Not a church but just the place where the priests study.

There is a church there.
Was in it for a graduation once.

What's the point of the original question?

Well technically there is no church there now as it's being used as our temporary library while the other is being renovated :D

So they deconsecrated it to make it a library?

St Mary's Chapel just over the bridge from Finn Park. In fairness, you can see the steeple of it from miles around though.

No steeple from the main stand in Bray. You can see some old run down religious centre there. It's closed down now but it has a Virgin Mary on top of it (I guess there's a first time for everything :D)

You can probably see a few of the steeples in the other stand.

There's two visible from the Connaught St side - St Peters and some other one further up the Cabra Road

surely if you're in a league of Ireland ground you are in the only place of worship worthy of mention. keep the true faith and avert your eyes from these nonsense sideshows and their false promises.
