Did anyone else get a txt message from Molly Buckley looking for No 1 vote?
I havent a clue how she got my number and she's not even running in my

Is it against the canvassing rules or anything to send txt like this on the
morning of an election?

I would say it is and I'd go further and say she should be reported for it. Don't delete the text.
From Wiki:
Councillor Molly Buckley is an Fine Gael member of Offaly County Council for the Tullamore Local Electoral Area and Tullamore Town Council. She had previously been a member of Fine Gael but left the party in advance of the 1999 Local Elections and was re-elected on the last two occasions as an Independent.
She contested the 2002 General Election for the Independent Health Alliance unsuccessfully in Laois-Offaly. A full-time public representative, Molly is currently the National Chairperson of the Irish Wheelchair Association.
On September 27, 2006 she rejoined Fine Gael and was added to the ticket as the party's third candidate in the Laois-Offaly constituency alongside sitting TD, Olwyn Enright and Charles Flanagan.

Bould Molly indeed. Reminds me of a friend of mine going for entertainments officer in UCD this year. On the day of the election he got a warning for trying to elicit votes by distributing deliciuos lolly pops, and alas later got disqualified for handing out free cans of what was, idiotically it must be said, non-alcoholic beer! It was all incidental in the end as the better candidate walked it, but I'm sure if they have such rules for UCD elections there must be similar rules for the oul GE. I'd love to see McDowell handing out lolly pops though.

Was there a ban on canvassing doors yesterday?
Got a pamphlet in my door last night.

They were all out in force around Limerick last night. Particularly FF.
Someone name-dropping Willie O'Dea called to the house just before I left for work to see if anyone needed a lift to the polling station. A bit embarrassing for all concerned as we live across the road from the polling station but there you go.

I think its a "self imposed moratorium". We had the night off anyway.

There is definitely a tradition, an unwritten rule if you will that there is no canvassing the day before the election.
