Tolka Park proving it's no longer fit to host top division football anymore
Loose stanchion/floodlight pylon inside the ground deemed unsafe by the referee, the Shelbourne groundstaff and the Police
Rovers fans on the pitch responding to some goading by Waterford fans according to the radio
The ****ing floodlight pylon is loose!?!

Even when they are not playing Shels manage to get media attention.

Aye - from what I could gather from the radio - it's one of those similar to the one which caught fire in the Cup Final a few years back
Thought it was a wind up.
So Shels in richmond and rovers in dalymount?
kdjac
Just got text from "eye witness" saying game called off as "floodlight about to fall down".

What caught fire in 2002 was a padding wrap around the base of one of the floodlights (so that if a player went flyign into it, they wouldn't get hurt).
Definitely not the sort of thing that would see a game abandoned.
Tolka must be in a right state to have a ref calling a game off mid-play.
They cant play home games in Richmond, the residents would go mental and we have to be nice to them.
How can the best ground in the league turn into a death trap in a matter of weeks, 1st the main stand then the pitch and now the lights.?
kdjac
so let me get this straight. Rovers fans invaded the pitch and have pulled down all the floodlights. Scum. :p
Anyone know what happens to betting on this match ? or if its part of a double/treble etc ? assume money refunded ?

Probably the same way the best team in the league can turn into one of the worst almost over night.....

This had been (kinda) coming, re: Tolka floodlights!
We played them in the LC a few weeks ago, the lights came on at the start of the game and went off straight away.
About 15/20 mins. into the game several announcements were made, now I've heard them before, "if there's a doctor please come to the dressing room" etc, but never, "If there's an electrician in the the ground please come over and fix our floodlights"
It appears when paying into Tolka these days you have to a) bring your tools with you or b) do some freebee nixers during the game.
The ground is a shambles, half the advertising hoardings from the front of the stand have blown down, the away fans toilets aren't fit for animals, at the front row of the Riverside stand there are steal bolts coming out of the concrete (very dangerous) and the floodlights aren't even secured properly.
This place is NOT FIT FOR A LICENCE!
Looks like it's off to Whitehall with ya!

Exact same pylon beside the turnstiles.

It had been swaying all game and I wouldn't say it was that close to falling down, but the game did have to be abandoned.

If it wasn't bad enough we had a few toe rags masquerading as Waterford fans get on the pitch at the end to goad the home support. Muppets

Bout time too. That said it wasn't a particularly great game. Both teams were pretty poor but Bray had more about them. Tbh, Rovers looked pretty tired and disinterested.
