Irish fans have won awards for their behaviour and allround general greatness in the past.

Can anyone dig out some links to illustrate this. I can't find any.

I'm in a debate with a fuppin Jocko backstard on another site about this.

although we got a 'joint' award in 1997 that particular link may hurt your arguement more as both dundee (1987) and celtic (2003) were also winners thus strengthining the scot mans arguement!

I know that but this is an argument about the national sides. He says the tartan army are the most acclaimed fans in Europe moreso that Ireland. He's a Rangers fans too so that link might hurt him a little more than you think.

They were highly acclaimed in Wembley in 1977. ;)

Scotland won the best Fans at 1998 and we won it at 2002 and 1990. I think both of us are pretty good when we go abroad in that we don't cause trouble etc and provide good colour and songs etc. Although Scots are better at supporting their domestic league than we are. We have the World record for away support at an international game when we took just under 35,000 to Paris, The previous record was held by the Scots in Belgium for their playoff game for the 2002 World Cup I think.

The Tartan army have a fantastic reputation when they travel abroad. They are great ambassadors for their country. Why can't you just highlight the good side of our support without having to knock other fans?

I remember that day well.....was in a club in Watford that night when a group of the Tartan Terriers came in and handed in to the cloakroom ( for safe keeping! )one of the nets, together with a piece of the crossbar, and several sods of turf!!.....Quality!!:D

I'd hardly call it knocking other fans - he's just having an arguement/bit of banter with another footie fan. Isn't that what it's all about??? Lighten up ..;););)
