Gill recruits White to Vikings

New Dublin City manager John Gill has pulled off a coup by snatching well-respected coach Noel White – ironically linked with the club’s manager’s job last week – from Premier Division UCD.

Gill was appointed as the successor to John Toal last weekend, and immediately set his stall out for next season, which begins in April.

The club will face an uphill battle to regain their status as one of the pre-eminent sides in the First Division, particularly after losing key forward Alan McNevin to rivals – and Gill’s former club – Kildare County.

But the appointment of White is another statement of intent from the new Vikings boss, who will be keen to draw a line under City’s disappointing recent campaign and return the club to the standing of the previous year, when they were unlucky to miss out on promotion to the top flight.

White has carved a solid reputation through coaching roles at Shelbourne and UCD, and will add another dimension to Gill’s forthright attitude towards club management

Actually to be fair to The Vikings, Noel parted company with U.C.D. early on in the 2002-03 season. So he was a free agent.
Good luck to him in his new position .
