View Full Version : Election 2007: Pick Your Party Website
This is a non-partisan website that has been put together in order to help voters make an informed choice about which party to choose in the upcoming Irish general election.
PickYourParty.ie (http://pickyourparty.ie/)
Some unusual categories & uncertain means of ranking parties but a bit of fun nonetheless.

Must be a pretty strange algorithm they're using. They correctly identified my closest political alignment with the Labour Party, but cited my three highest priorities as Northern Ireland, EU Strengthening and Immigration (when I explicitly graded them lowest of all.)

I got the Greens.

Greens then Sinn Fein and then Labour.
Probablt about right considering the 3 parties that were there.
Oddly I'm Fianna Fail, despite being linked with the Greens in 4 areas, Fine Gael in 2 and Fianna Fail just once. Plus I'm pretty sure I ranked Northern Ireland, EU Strengthening and EU Enlargement as my least important issues, not my biggest issues (thats crossing bridges with railings more than half a foot apart)
All in all.....worst site ever!!!

I apologise for putting this link up as that site is ridiculous.

Thats what I was thinking. The bit about listing your 3 most important topics is rubbihs though as you can see that when you're ranking them.
For the record I'm closest to Labour

Do the political compass (http://www.politicalcompass.org) test page and then see how close you are by comparing on their Irish Parties 2007 page. I think it is a better test anyway.

I got Economic Left/Right: -3.75
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -5.85
Which is closest to the Socialist Party and the Greens :)
