why was the previous Reynolds post pulled I can understand some of the other censorship that goes on re threats/trouble etc but was it really neccessary.

If you don't wnat it on the Cork section why not move such threads to the 'away club' section, in this case Rovers, it would also encourage more Rovers fans to join

The "wha wha" was meant to imply that I hadn't a bulls notion what you're talking about, dumbass. Either explain your problem or stop annoying me.

Tommy, you're wasting your time. This guy Vetinari is an idiot, censorship sucks and his kind is the worst - censoring anything he doesn't agree with.

Why the censorship?

Why move topics all over the place?

Why the childish replies every time someone questions this forum?

How do you expect people to move from the el board to foot.ie when it is so user unfriendly?

Why the censorship?

There are two types of "censorship" on Foot.ie. The profanity censors exist primarily because I want the Foot.ie community to be open to all, and that includes kids. Sure, kids are exposed to profanity every day - the profanity at eL matches is an absolute shame - but that doesn't make it right, and as the operator of this site I've chosen to limit their exposure here.

You can think of that as censorship, but I like to think of it this way: If you come to my house, I have the right to ask you not to smoke or swear in front of my kids. Foot.ie is my house, it's the community's house, and although every now and then a noob like yourself (no offense, we were all noobs once) comes along to complain, I don't see the community here - the long-term community - complaining. They like it here.

The second kind of censorship is muppet control and that exists because every now and then someone comes along with no interest in the community, and usually no interest in soccer. They're not here to join, they're here to disrupt. And again, you can think of that as censorship if you want, but I think of it like this: If you come into my house, I expect you not to shout and roar and mouth off. If you do, I'll throw you out.

Why move topics all over the place?

It really doesn't get much simpler than this: Why not post in the correct forum?

Why the childish replies every time someone questions this forum?

I don't like profanity or muppetry on my forums, but that doesn't mean I don't have a sense of humour. I'm allowed take the mick just like everyone else, and when people post garbage, I reserve the right to post garbage back. Look at TommyT's post - how the hell am I supposed to know what "Reynolds post" he's talking about? Where's the "threats/trouble" he's talking about? And how about yours? You call me an idiot and paint me as a fascist, and you expect a serious answer? This post is more like it, and that's why you're getting an answer.

How do you expect people to move from the el board to foot.ie when it is so user unfriendly?

I don't expect anybody to do anything. If people want to come to Foot.ie, they're welcome. If they don't, it's no skin off my nose. But to paint Foot.ie as user unfriendly, when we've gone out of our way to make Foot.ie as friendly to as wide a spectrum of the community as possible from day one, well, that's just rubbish. We're only unfriendly to people who are unfriendly to our community. That's what community is all about.

As I've said many, many times before on Foot.ie, if you don't like it here, don't come here. It's really as simple as that. We won't shed a tear, nor will we shout for joy. We probably won't even notice you've gone.

"the profanity at eL matches is an absolute shame" - Are you serious??? The chance to scream and shout and swear and curse is half the fun!

All your talk about family and community is cringe-inducing so I guess I'll leave you to it and return to my "family" on the Rovers Ultras board.

I actually like foot.ie and think that this type of forum is far superior to Network 54. With the EL board being so rubbish I reckon that if foot.ie was a little less uptight it could cater for all EL fans.

Oh dear look what I started

Look when I first posted this thread on the Cork City section there was an thread about Alan Reynolds moving to Rovers, there had been another one which ran to a few pages and had broadened into slagging about Corks name/club/ground changing and lack of travelling support with Cork fans responding in kind. I logged on about this time one evening to find it gone.

When I wrote the post I expected a prompt reply saying something about either someone being overly offensive or threatening or that Cork posts had been deleted on the rovers ultras forum. The reason for the last two being that people signing themselves 'Cork Rebel Crew' or 'Corner Boys' or whatever had been coming on the Rovers forum gloating about the recent incident in the Horseshoe and threatening more, these had been deleted by the moderator, though after a while he started leaving them up a few hours so people could see them, since Cork fans refused to believe in their existence.

I assumeyour Wha Wha was a smartass two fingers treply imitating a Dublin accent and thus assumed that the post had been moved for excessive slagging (in fairness the abuse thrown was all about football) that you didn't like, hence the charge of being sensitive.

If you re-read the start of this thread you'llsee that I accept that if you're putting in the voluntary work it's your call about the swearing etc (even if I don't agree).

Anyway why was it deleted ?

TommyT, if you'd posted something like that - even half that - right at the beginning, this thread would be done and dusted now.

The simple answer is that I don't know, because I'm not the mod for the City forum, however I will say that nothing should be deleted on Foot.ie anymore -- off-topic posts are supposed to be moved here, and rubbish is supposed to be moved to a special hidden forum. Have a look through these to see if anything pops up:

http://foot.ie/search.php?searchid=24186

If it doesn't, perhaps joe could enlighten us?

And no, the "wha wha" wasn't a smart comment, it was a question. As in "Wha?" Hence the question mark.

Fair enough can't find it, the first post though was only a couple of days after the thread went, if Joe or whoever had enlightened us there'd have been no problem. As I said I can understand if such threads become regarded as a pain in the ... on the city board but at least if you move it to the Rovers one at least it'd encourage more Hoops to visit it.

Also to be honest I was mainly miffed at the lack of reply since Spillage never replied to a mail I sent him about the Richmond non-incident in the Echo, he wrote back to others the same day but when I presented him with a few facts he ignored it.

Anyway this is done and dusted so I'm off back to harrass him

Yip. I know that there were complaints about one thread going off-topic, and I was going to split it, but I didn't. (It would have taken an hour to go through the bloody thing.)

Anyone willing to claim responsibility for this atrocity?
