saw it last week at probably the most packed late show (11:30 in Storm Cinema in Limerick) I've ever been to.
anyone else check it out yet?

<SOME SPOILERS BELOW - YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED>

Overall I was disappointed, Raimi has said he originally didn't want to put Venom into the film, and it shows, the suit itself, and Eddie as Venom get very little screen time and are never really established as a force for evil. The Sandman is supposed to be this sympathetic character because his daughter is sick/poor/living in a crap apartment. We never find out and it's hard to relate to him. Top notch special effects for him though.
Harry finally becomes the Goblin, and flies around on a hoverboard, sorry glider before succumbing to that most dastardly of villians, a bump on the head. So he forgets everything that happened, bar he used to date MJ and his dad is dead for some reason.
Finally Peter himself is overcome by his new super suit, which he doesn't realise is alive (unlike in the comics where he knew straight away) and turns into this arrogant emo-wannabe and tries to strut like it's Saturday Night Fever. It isn't. Until he finally realises that his new black suit is making him angrier and more arrogant and he's losing the love of his life for his blonde lap partner.
Bruce Campbell makes his third cameo and gets some of the best lines in the film.
I get the feeling that Raimi tried to cram 2 films (Peter gets new suit, battles Sandman, Harry becomes bigger threat, Eddie gets suit and becomes biggest threat ever) into one and it suffers because of this. Time for a rethink on the stars and director in the inevitable sequel following the biggest box-office opening ever.
Although I'd pay money to watch Kirsten Dunst read a phone book ;)

I thought it was a mess, but an enjoyable one.

Think I'll go and see it this weekend, but I haven't heard good reports about it so far.

And does anyone else think Kirsten Dunst is starting to look a bit kicked?

It was far too long, I had lost interest long before the end.
