People look back at these incidents an say they are wrong.....Drogba in particular is a disgrace......why do referees or an F.A. not look back at these and say its wrong and do something about it.....if they are caught doing this then ban them!!! Its the only way to stop it!!

TV should "out" the actors. SKY, BBC, ITV, the print media, everyone.
They should have a feature after every game "Cheat Watch". The message would soon become clear.
Acting is the worst part of the current game & the authorities have been cowardly in their apoproach to it. Like in Rugby Union the authorities should have the ability to "cite" cheating and let the player cited explain his antics.
Funny though, I was 10 during the Argentina WC in '78. That summer I took a dive and won a free kick having seen it on the telly. I thought I was being really cool & professional! My opponent was utterly aghast.

As a member of the theatre profession, I am most displeased with the title of this thread. Most of my thespian colleagues would agree with me that, even at their worst, any trained actor would manage something much better than that, especially the Norwegian chap. I expect that I shall write a letter to the editor of The Daily Mail.
On a side note, congratulations on restricting yourself to only one of Drogba, and none of Ronaldo - discipline is always impressive.

I thought this thread was about Vinny Jones, the well known ex -professional "footballer" turned "actor" turned greyhound doper. (allegedly)

It's a good thing that football is already so popular everywhere - if FIFA was trying to grow its popularity in new areas it would be rightly laughed at with this type of pantomime.
Disgusting really, do these people have no sense of professional pride or dignity:confused: Even if you are fouled, wouldn't it make you more of a man to just get up and get on with it, instead of showing your opponent and the world what a big pussy you are?
The Gilardino one is fascinating - he knows he has no chance of getting the ball so he instinctively falls back on something that worked for him before. Hilarious to see him diving with his face turned back to see if his appeal has been successful.
Maybe they should build a formal appeal into the rules like in cricket, instead of the play-acting, a player has to shout when he thinks he's been fouled - HOWISITTTTTTTTTTT!!! :D
On the homefront, I have to say that Roy O'Donovan is the most Oscar-worthy of all players in the league. Even when he is fouled, the way he hurls himself to the ground is embarrassing. Any other suggestions for worst culprit on this?

one player that really gets my goat at the moment is Gattuso, he nearly always has to go off injured at least once in a game,
remember in the world cup he went off 3 times in one game
i hate the fact that he gives it all with the mouth, and looks agressive, but touch him and he is rolling around like a baby
he is no roy keane, and hope Stevie G gives him a good kick up the ar se

On the contrary , I believe he is every bit as effective as Keane whilst maybe lacking Keanes comfort on the ball. and the very notion of Gerrard being able to give him a kick in the arse is laughable

all you have to do is look at any games he plays or has played
i swear he goes off "injured" nearly every game, imagine in one world cup game going off three times, and then as soon as he was off up off the strecther and on to the field again, just one of these johnny foreign types, easy to knock off the ball, etc.....ballack is another one!
is he tough cause he got a cool smig?

He's every bit as good as Keane off the ball but nowhere near as good with the ball at his feet.

Gerrrard is another "Johnny foreign" type unless of course you arent Irish. But of course he would never do anything cynical like diving.

It runied it for you? Would you stop. :D From reading your posts here and on bigsoccer you'd have probably used that line no matter what Italy did at the world cup. I watched every minute of every game Italy played and they were far from the worst. Also, Italy are doing much, much more than the likes of England to clamp down on diving.
As for Grosso winning the peno against Australia. I don't know any player in the world that wouldn't have went down to that stupid challenge by Neil in the last minute of a game. I can only imagine a player that would go out of his way to avoid Neil. I certainly wouldn't and I despise diving.

come of it, the Italians were far and away the worst for diving in the world cup
your judegment is obviously clouded or impaired, or maybe you dont really know whats going on in a football game,
did you not see the USA game?

living in britain a lot of my english friends simply call them " dirty cheating italian *******s" , why, where did they get this reputation?

That's it, a reputation. Portugal were by far and away the worst country at the world cup for diving.
I've already commented on the peno against Australia. There's no doubt it was obstruction and any footballer in the world would have went down.

Of course the Italian's have a big, big reputation for diving. I'm not denying that.
Worst divers in the premiership (bar Ronaldo) are all English; Gerrard, joe Cole, Andy Johnson
Its nothing to do with the person's nationality IMO

yeah but
for british and irish players it aint as bad, nowhere near
and there is never any debate in the foreign press about diving, its accepted
as part of the game
as for the aussie thing...thats how they go on...............
first............"sure wouldnt anybody go down"
next..........."whats wrong with it"
then............"why not, we won"
cheating is cheating

The Italians got a reputation for being ''dirty'' when players such as Romeo Benetti and Claudio Gentile, back in the 1960's 1970's an 1980's used to kick their opponents. That does not mean that Italy were diving in 2006 by any means. Italy deserved to win last year's World Cup and Cannavaro was the Player of the Tournament possibly with Buffon as the second best player. It speaks volumes about the modern game and the way in which players perform at the end of a long season in a major tournament, that the two best players at a World Cup were a) A Central Defender and b) a goalkeeper.

oh yeah Italy (and Argentina, and maybe Germany) were the teams that played well in the world cup, and Italy deserved it, but man how many times did we see italians falling to the ground
the proof will be in the CL finals, i would nearly bet good money that Gattuso will go off the field with an "injury", which will have an instant cure, watching his "form" in other games has only comfirmed this
cant remember F Baresi ever taking a dive, he was too good of a player for that!
the italians are even diving in the rugby now, did you see the guy wwith the drop kick and run trying to get a free by bouncing of the opposition player!

Well my eyesight must have been very bad because I could have sworn i seen Manchester United (an English team, who according to you extol Corinthian like dedication to fair play) refuse to give the ball back to those dirty cheating Eye-Ties after they had kicked it out of play during the week there

Without weighing in on whether or not Italians dive more or less than others, there is a bit of a difference between feigning injury or diving on the one hand and, on the other hand, not returning the ball after a team has kicked the ball out of play. The former are clearly instances of cheating; the latter isn't.

Did you expect them to give the ball back after Kaka had clearly been faking injury and then took ages to leave the field?
