Eight Games:eek:

Leonardo didn't get that many games in 1994 for fracturing someone's skull!

That said, when Polewczak played for us last season, he didn't quite seem to have the passion to do anything that constituted an eight game ban.

eight games is spot on. spitting on someone is a disgrace and players who do it should be made an example of.

Amazing that on this side of europe spitting is seen as much worse than an elbow or a kick. It is the opposite on the continent.
If you think of it it is much easier to wipe off some spit than fixing a broken tooth:)

Agreed, it's possibly the most degrading thing you can do to a fellow human being IMO>

If the internet has taught us anything, its that there are far more degrading things people can do to others than spit on them. We've all seen the videos...

Agreed you could go out and break someone's leg and get a 2/3 game yet a spit gets you 8 games. Now I would far rather someone spat on me that broke my leg.

Spitting is bad, no doubt about it, but if it warrents an 8 game ban, what about an intentional physical assault?

Levadia Tallinn actually.

Years ago there was a shels reserve player who got sent off then proceeded to rip up the ref's red card while screaming abuse at him! Got suspended for 12 or 15 games if memory serves.:D

Was in the Glenmalure Gazette. Must dig it out.

Caught the live show away and it was far from "degrading"!

Dug up the GG from 1989:

"Philip Byrne the 19 year old Shelbourne forward has been banned for eight games after being sent off in a reserve team game against UCD at Belfield on March 18 last.

It is one of the harshest sentences handed out by the FAI disciplinary committee in recent years. A number of "off the ball" incidents were in the referee's report were considered before the ban was imposed."

Probably related to oily. Shame they didnt ban lucifer at the same time.

What sort of suspension did KC's Hussey get last year ?

Wasn't it huge ?

Think he got four games after being sent off at Station Road for kicking a kildare player who was on the ground about 2 yards from the assistant referee

Didn't he get sent off in his comeback game from that suspension though ?

That ripping-up-the-red-card thing is classic. It is imperative that Philip Byrne, 37-year-old ex-Shelbourne reserves forward, be located and sent a box of Roses or something.

:D Would have been funnier if the card was laminated - he'd have been there all day trying to tear it up.
