This year's EL representatives in the Intertoto will play Icelandic opposition in the first round, with the first leg away on June 23/24 and the home leg on June 30/July 1.

If they win that, they'll face opposition from Sweden or the Faeroes, and if they win that, they play a Dutch team in the third round.

I can't remember who the EL team is, so maybe the thread could be moved to the appropriate team forum by someone who does...

Cork City are in the Intertoto, and looking at the tables from Iceland, looks like they are playing Valur Reykjavik

It's Cork City.

Not a bad draw. I'd give us a decent chance of going through.

It's Cork City as far as I know.

Cork could well win the three ties if they are in form at the time.

do you know who the IL team would be playing in the Inter2bob cup?

It's ok, found out. Our representative plays a latvian team. Good chance for our representative as well to qualify. Although wouldnt hold my breath if it's Glentoran.

We should beat Valur well.

And Have a good Rattle off Hammarby.

Not sure about beating Valur well but we have a good chance.

Then try to make Hammerby the 4th Swedish team in successive seasons to lose to EL clubs in Europe:D

Swedish sides really are average these days to be honest so I won't be at all surprised if Cork get through to the third round.

Think the Dutch side should have too much for them though.

They were pretty average last time we took on NEC (Nijmegen). We drew away and won at home. The away match saw Joey Gamble make his first (re)appearance since re-signing for city, and city wearing a bizarre all-white generic kit from a local supplier after a kit mistake.

That's what they said about NEC Nijmegen

Edit - Gavin beat me to it by a second.

Think the Dutch side should have too much for them though.Thats between places 10-12 in the Dutch League, currently NAC Breda, NEC Nijmegen and Vitesse Arnhem, we've already dumped Nijmegen out of Europe so you never know.

We will have to see which Dutch Team it is, Vitesse are clearly the danger side to get if Cork do go through the 2 rounds

I think you should concentrate on your 1st round match before worrying about which Dutch team you could get.

Vitesse are currently 8 points outside the 6-9 bracket, in 12th place.

the 6-9 bracket at the moment looks like

6 SC Heerenveen ----- 33 52
7 Roda JC ------------ 33 51
8 FC Groningen ------- 32 48
9 FC Utrecht --------- 33 45

Vitesse are currently 8 points outside the 6-9 bracket, in 12th place.Gav, it says here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eredivisie_2006/2007) that the 6-9 playoff for the UEFA Cup spot, no mention of Inter 2 bob though.
The previous season here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eredivisie_2005/2006) did say that 10-13 played for Intertoto

First place qualifies for CL,
2-5 play off for the second CL place, with the losers getting UEFA places,
6-9 play off for the intertoto place, with the losers getting nothing

Trust him, he's usually right:D , From Gavs link it says that teams 10-13 enter a playoff also should the KNVB Cup Winner come from the top 7 teams and already have a UEFA spot that the winner of this playoff would then enter the Intertoto.
It ain't half complicated.

It's quite complicated, the playoff format we've got in Holland, but reality is all teams between spot 6 and 13 can end up at an Intertoto spot (7th).

In short;
Number 6 plays versus number 9
7-8
----
10 - 13
11 - 12
----

Then;
1. Winner 6-9 / Winner 7-8
2. Winner 10-13 / Winner 11-12

Winner 1 --> UEFA Cup
Loser 1 --> Playoff for Intertoto spot
Winner 2 --> Playoff for Intertoto spot
