totally agree. am of no religous persuasion and i occasionaly get the same crap because i support hearts. 99 per cent decent fans in EL and all it needs for sponsors and uefa to take notice is if that ****e is heard at a live tv match so be warned ya bunch of morons
When someone gets this Jambo tosh translated can they let me know.
KOH
The increases imo are from Bohs 4.5k ,Pats 3k ,Rovers 3k Galway 3k and Cork 5k, derry 3k getting about the same but they will get less if form continues, drogs buggered by stadium if the 3 dublin clubs continue to play well then it will increase.
I spoke to Mooney at 1st game and his target was 30k a week but set a few years for it, If the above teams continued to play well and tallaght was opened 30k would be a very realistic target.
Derry stadium may happen now.
Pats stadium will happen.
Cork done could improve it but no major work needed.
Drogs need stadium
Rovers need stadium.
galway dundalk need stadiums.
All of the above have plans albeit some being hampered.
When someone gets this Jambo tosh translated can they let me know.

Makes perfect sense really if sectarian chants in spain got rangers fined, assume the same will happen to others.

What scotsbeer is saying is :
If Uefa or some big sponsor of the league or the Setanta cup heard a song or that nature at a game, the EL would probably get a right bashing by the media and the club in particular could find themselves in very hot water. You could end up with a hefty fine and/or a ban or fans could be banned for attending games.
He is a bit off the mark there, Rangers finally got a ban from europe this season after many warnings about their fans over singing sectarian songs and rioting in football grounds. Celtic should be banned to, until they clean up their act.
This is one song out of about 20 that were sung. Personally, I dont like it, I was very fond of Di even though I am not royalist. Its a childish song and Rovers should stick to the many good songs they have.

Crowd increase are due to; Pats replacing Shels as a top club.
Newly promoted Rovers repalceing Pats a bargain basemnet battlers.
Galway replacing Dublin City/Expunged FC as newly promoted table proppers. All three scenarios have increased crowds. It's **** all to do with Mooney/Delaney

As noted on the attendances thread, those factors have had a minimal effect on the attendances. Wexford replacing DC has upped crowds by 3%. Promotion and relegation is within the system, so won't affect the overall average.
Going from the figuers here, everyone bar Cobh (not been playing in their own ground), Kildare (small crowds boosted more than anyone else by Rovers last year), Shels (relegated) and Sligo (?) are up. Only Derry and Drogheda are showing a rise of less than 24% (Cork are up 25%). You can't explain that by saying DC and Shels are out of the equation.
The opening day derbies are still having an effect as well, obviously.

Unless the FAI are using these figures added to some of their own. I remember Mooney talkng about 5,000 at one game when the actual figure was about 3,500...
Yeah, from some things I've heard that's exactly how those positive figures are being arrived at.
I`ve noticed a massive increase in kids under 12 and families at our games this year, and also teenagers for that matter, seems to be a really cool thing for all to go to oriel again this year, as there is a definite feel good factor about the place. Crowds are up from 1,000 avg (2006) to 2,000. And unlike the premier, there has been very little away support.
Its a great start but it is early days (for all clubs), will be interesting to see what the figures are like when we reach the start of summer.

Unllike the figures arrived at here ? Which are factual somehow.

For what it's worth, I have a total attendance to date of 105,147, compared to 97,656 per the FAI. Difference is 7.6% of the FAI figure.
I make weekly attendance figures as follows -
Week..........My total........FAI total........Diff (%)
1...............22619.............20882.........+8 .3%
2...............16610.............15603.........+6 .5%
3...............13070.............12510.........+4 .5%
4...............15068.............13573.........+1 1.0%
5...............19971.............18826.........+6 .1%
6...............17807.............16262.........+8 .7%
Week three is low because Bohs-Rovers was moved to week 5.

And that's relevant in what way?
And that's relevant in what way?
If the FAI base the massive rise in Attd on guesstimates, is the thread on foot.ie exact or also wrong as its based on guesstimates or tax dodging club figures.
Point is neither are correct but both posted in various lights as being correct, the foot.ie one is posted ehh here and the FAI`s is posted in every paper i read today.
So its relevant in that both are wrong but one in a negative way and the other in a positive way.....go figure which is which.

I don't see what that's got to do with this thread. I'm not here to defend or attack Pineapple's figures, I'm merely stating I heard something quite similar to what Dodge pointed out about how the figures are arrived at.

But they are not pineapples figures they are "our" figures the ones we post every week after a game. On the 2007 thread the 4 th post or so is Dodge asking that guesstimates are not used about 12 more posts and its vindicated.
We on foot.ie use guesstimates and believe them but when then EVIL FAI use them its a bad thing. The FAI have put their guesstimates into every paper, honestly i had the indo, mirror, star, sun and the free ones in the morning, all had EL attd higher in them.
So how the figures are arrived at on both sides is the same

Love that theres two seperate threads rolled into one here. The serious attendence figures one, and the racist/who cares one and that both of them are pretty much ignoring each other. Have to say that even though its rare for me to agree with WAR or NY Hoop around here that they're right in saying its only a song, not the end of the peace process. Plus WAR's response to the Hearts fan made me laugh, I'd nominate it for post of the month, but I'd probably just get the pair of us banned :p

As Steve said above its taken a few years of experience of combination of official figures & guesses is not too far off total at all.
The FAI figures say numbers up 38%. What percentage are the foot.ie 2007 numbers against the foot.ie 2006 numbers?

Even the official attendance for us v Bohs was one of our biggest attendances in years. Can't believe anyone thinks us doing well has nothing to do with that.
Oh and split the thread please, someone. As Jebus mentioned, there's a weird stereo effect in this one.
Switching to the other channel, I can't believe people are still getting worked up over Rovers songs. Don't feed the beasts, it's futile, they revel in annoying people and people keep falling for it.

Very ironic that a Linfield fan is hoping Rovers don't get into the Setanta Cup because they have one sectarian song.
I'm sorry but Windsor Park is the worst ground in both North and South of the border for singing those type of songs.
They were clearly heard on the TV at the game versus Drogs and Derry.
Neither set of supporters reacted which says more about where Linfield are as opposed to the rest of us.
Fair enough ye're trying to eradicate it but the fact is a large % of the stand behind the goals still find it necessary to sing "We are the Billy boys" and "Rule Britannia"
A visit of Rovers and they wouldn't need to be enticed-in fact i'd say ye'd be worse.
Billy Boys is sectarian and if you really done a bit of research you will find that both in Drogheda and in Derry City our support sung over the top of these morons who tried to start it. You will also find out that even in recent Glentoran games, Sectarian singing was near non-existant, which shows you how far we have come.
As I said we are not perfect but we are getting there and our supporters by and large are condemning these knuckledragging thugs. It is quite different to some one considering it acceptable like that Shamrock Rovers supporter.
So yes we are not perfect and there is the odd very unnacceptable song, but we have came on leaps and bounds and the 99% of us are trying our best to get rid of it and to be frank, we are winning the war although it is taking a while.
PS: "Rule Britannia" is not a sectarian song, it is a British song. Just like the Fiends of Athenry is an Irish song. At least be correct when branding song sectarian.

The FAI's figures are the official figures sent in by the clubs. That said, they are not always 100% accurate as some clubs have in the past forgotten to count the children that were in free. Whatever about how accurate they are or not there is a definate increase in people attending games and long may it last.
PS: "Rule Britannia" is not a sectarian song, it is a British song. Just like the Fiends of Athenry is an Irish song. At least be correct when branding song sectarian.
100% correct. Always found it very strange why people get their knickers in a twist over Rule Britannia. It far far less cringeworthy than Fiends of Athenry, which make me cringe when I hear it being sung for some reason.

This is not a fair comparison.
'The Fields of Athenry' is sung by Munster fans, even though they have no legitimate connection to Athenry/Galway. Whereas 'Rule Brittania' is sung by Linfield fans even though they have no...ohhh. OK, I'll just stop there. :)

Bohs put them in match reports on the official website and they are printed in the programme. Any figures posted on the thread here are the official attendance as per ticket count and membership/free list information.
Bohs so far this season have a league average 0f 2660, up from last season's league average of 1395.

Why would anything that groups of Englishmen sing at each other trouble him more than idiotic Provo street-riot wannabes from Dublin singing en masse of their hate for the section of the population he is (if I've read his other posts right) from? Particularly when he's from somewhere where that crap has a history of ending in more than tears.
I know which I find more depressing.
No doubt the song is really merely a protest at some of the more unsavoury aspects of the Orange Order as an institution and any other interpretation of the phrase "Orange *******s" is — *flutters eyelids* — mischievous.
