Whenever this new man is appointed - lets hope its Kerr 'cause I doubt the other candidates are up to it - does any one have any idea what 11 he's going to pick to face Scotland on Feb.12th?
More importantly, has anyone else noticed the serious lack of form shown by the vast majority of the squad (or that picked by McCarthy) in the past few weeks/months. Of the last 11 that were picked to face Switzerland, only Duffer, Robbie Keane and (maybe) Shay Given are playing well recently. And now Duff's apparently out for 6 weeks. Oh and then there's the other Keane - who isn't doing too badly.
For what it's worth here's my preferred 11:
Given
Carr O'Brien Cunningham O'Shea
Finnan Reid Keane Duff
Keane Morrisson
In the absence of Duff, purely on the basis of present form, I think Kennedy should be given a run out on the left.
Anyone any better ideas?
