think we should play
------------Rodgers------------
James-----Nooitmeer-----Charles
-------------Foley-------------
O'Brien--Russell--Lester--Treacy
-------Murphy--O'Flynn--------

i'm hoping things will click and we'll actually make possession in the oppositions half. i'm saying a 3-1 home win and murphs, o'brien and o'flynn grabbing the goals

I'm predicting a 4-0 win, so back us to win 3-0 (currently at 29.0 on Betfair)...

It'll also be the first home game I'll miss this season 'cos of a stag in Kilkenny so it's a definite homer...

Stag in Kilkenny , what do you mean you should be working

I will still go for a 1-0 win .

id say 3-1 or maybe 2-1 but we will scrape it i think.im a bit worried by how confident everyone is though including myself:) .

Reggie's very doubtful according to the club website. Billy is suggested as a direct replacement. Does that also mean we revert to 4-4-2?

Oh Lord, Friday the 13th. and all that...........

I think the "gate" will be considerably down on last week. But a few of the people I've spoken to who've come back after a few years away have been very positive. "You can't fault them for effort" was yesterday evening's quote.

Let's just hope for some end product now.

Id still say 3/5/2 as who plays left back in a flat back four.

Im not as confident as everyone here, my head says a boringly defensive 0-0 draw, my heart says we will scrap a 2-1 win.

or else low scoring games so it could indeed be a boring match.
ppl are definatly talking about the way the team is playing.as a fellow foot.ie member pointed out nobody left early last friday night and nobody booed at the end either.this is opposed to other seasons when the lads would lose and get booed off because a chief reason for them losing games was not putting in the effort.but for effort and work rate we have been excellent but we also need skill and quality which havent been as evident.

your season so far sounds exactly like ours. plenty of effort but lacking quality and not getting much luck! am hopeful our luck will change tonight though!

I know our national broadcaster has improved its coverage of our League & I know JC_GUFC has a personal crusade highlighting Aertel errors, but I've come up with 3 mistakes in this preview. Is this a record?http://www.rte.ie/sport/2007/0413/galway.html

Ibut I've come up with 3 mistakes in this preview. Is this a record

What are the 3 errors, I can only spot 1. Also, not the worst preview I have ever seen

We didnt play Cork on the opening weekend,It was Drogheda Longford lost too and the 3rd one is a simple spelling mistake.

United played Cork on the second week of the season not the opening weekend as the preview states, unless Longford were temporarily relegated, I doubt they lost to Monaghan last week, I cant find the third one:confused:

Nooitmeer/Nootimeer ? I dont know which is right myself this reporter doesn't
either so he included both spellings. is that it?

MyTown

Mistake 1 - Opening week we played Sligo not Cork
Mistake 2 - Longford lost to Drogs last week not Mons
Mistake 3 - For me at least meagre is spelt 'meagRE' not 'meagER'

Okay, mistake 3 is bit harsh, but it's the overall lack of accuracy and professionalism that disappointed me. Didn't spot the two spellings of Reggie's surname - that's why I always refer to him as Reggie!

Al i meant to ask where are you living now? As for the match any result as long as we win and I think Stephen O'Flynn will be sharper tonight and will bag at least one.

Dramatic end to match with Longford keeper saving Murphys stoppage penalty and Russell blasting the ball over the bar. Things went wrong for United after the Londford player was sent off. The manager needs to shake up his team especially the front two. Moran should be shipped out and O'Dowd signed back from Athlone. The inexperienced Glynn should have scored his miss proved costly. Our free kicks and corner kick routines were poor apart from O'Flynn's goal. Its going to be a long hard season for Galway and Longford.

was excellent to be fair. First half seemed drab, But we did change the formation in the middle after we scored to what seemed like some type of diamond shape, very fancy alltogether, we created many chances but the goalie was on top. Strikers need to be coached to hit the second they see the sight of goal, barry is always trying to tee it up. Slip up again at the back for a corner between wes, reggie and the goalie. Still think it was a fair enough performance in the second half although frustrating in the end.
Lester is not up to premier footie in my opinion just yet he still needs 10 games to get premier fit he has some talent and he gives it all but i cant see how colin fortune was worse than him

Have to agree with you about Lester to some extent but he has improved fitness wise. The distribution was poor last night and the fonging of the ball to the strikers was never gonna work. Rogers as i said before like is dodgey to say the least he seems ok to catch the high balls from he GAA experience but he gives me the willies. Gough would command the defence much better, Gary just appears too quiet.

the defence just ball watched in the box for their equaliser - they have to stop leaking goals - if longfords strikers had been better - they had 2 good chances in the first half and just hit soft shots are rogers

murphs peno was too high - nice height for the keeper

was never a penalty in the first place - galway played some nice football when russell came on - but it always looked like we needed the second

as for that long ball tactic - waste of time

longford were relatively happy having 3 defenders at the back - when they had a man sent off
