What's the €200k for the FAI ?

Is it an allocation directly to them - or have they just estimated the amount of fines clubs will have to pay them over the next 5 seasons and passed it straight onto Merrion Square to save the hassle.....?

Could be something like that alright, always with the cutting corners that lot y'know, trying to save on admin work.

I think thats Drogheda Town and not United, Galway Harps but not sure. As for Thomas Davis is anyone really surprised? apart from that you got them all curious myself about the FAI though....

Great hear about all these ground improvements and the money going into them all the same.

Interesting that they decline to provide a breakdown on the amounts going to each sport. Wonder why that is?

Mr A

Looking through the list there certainly are a hell of a lot of GAA clubs!

Whats the situation with New Finn park now? The site is sorted already yeah? I understood it was a developer buying it and building the new place and when Harps move in, they develop the old ground. Is that still the case?

Local Gah club got €85,000 even though they already have top of the range flood lights  and the most players I have ever seen training under them was 10  - however, the local pitch and putt course got a nice sum :D

According to the FAI site the total for football was €17,085,000- the overall total being €85,000,000 or in other words 20.1% for the country's biggest participation sport. That said you have to apply for grant to get them, and a lot more GAA clubs than football clubs put work into their facilities.

Didn't they used to be called Ashtown Villa (who knocked Derry out of the Cup one year)? Some of the Dublin lads might confirm/clarify....

This is a chicken and egg situation. Gaa clubs get more public money because they spend more on their facilities. Or do they spend more on their facilities because they get the grants?

The one good thing about the Thomas Bigots row is that they are seriously annoying the minister for sport. he is clearly seen through their reasons and maybe a few choice words in the ear of the Grand Wizards might have some effect. He certainly told the FAI where to go in no uncertain terms a few years back.
