Spot-Kick- TOP MAN ! Thank you very much in deed. That is very much appreciated. 30/31 had Athlone Hibs 5-1 Galway Town, 51/52 had Galway Bhs beating Killybegs score unknown, 68/69 though I had Sligo Collegians, could have had year wrong. But around 68 was the foot in mouth in Britain, did it effect sport in Ireland as it did 5 years back as some leagues not completed in the north. The missing years in 30's could be 1. Fledgling Cup struggling to establish, 2. Possible as cup played on a regional basis could have been spread over 2 seasons. Did drop T. Kelly e-mail but no reply. OK would you be willing to sell Programme and what cost ? Know of all winners bar Gillooley Rangers do you know location ?

You can have the Programme - no cost. If anyone has information on Connaught competitions, T.K might, or alternatively Noel Kennedy in Sligo. Tom normally did a programme when Mayo teams were involved.

Spot-Kick, thats very kind of you. Before I switch e-mail where you based, as I pass through Ireland on a regular basis in summer, depending on your location, least I can do is buy you a pint or 2, for your help. Though reading between the lines you may be Mayo based, which may be a snag. Cheers

I am Mayo based. If you can think of a solution, I will make arrangements to send them on to you or leave them in a place for you.

Manulla ? Check out if my e-mail comes up on members scroll. If not take A chance and Ill post it here.
If correct with location, 2 Conn final defeats 03/04 Ballinasloe1-2, 87/88 1-2 v Sligo Corinthians. Any others ? If at 03/04 final what was attendance like ?
Seen your web-site tidy wee stand ! No other Mayo club got accomodation for fans ? Took a gander at Westport's Sportsground few years back. Howwould you describe it - Open air concrete terrace banking between road level and pitch lvel.

I am not familiar with how to find Members Scroll - I am not a million miles away from Manulla if you want me to leave them there. Manulla are a good local Junior club catering for a lot of underage players also - they have two pitches, a small stand, and are currently extending their dressing rooms. Westport are still based at the Sports Park, and they have not really improved on their facilities in recent years, but are probably the best local side. They won the F.A.I. Junior Cup (over 700 teams competed) in 2005. I am sure that Thunderblaster can provide you with a programme from that final.
I am afraid that the Connaught Junior Cup Final only attracts a crowd of 300 to 500. Junior football is more of a participant sport rather than a spectator sport in this part of the country.

1948/9 Sligo Bohs
1949/50 Westport Town

Westport Town won it in 1949 against Galway Rovers in Galway with Walsh, McGreal and Ryan all netting in a 3-1 win.
Sligo Bohs probably won it in 1950.

Westport United were in the Connacht Senior League from 1988 to 1995. Won the Incentive Cup in 1989 and were beaten finalists in the Connacht Senior Cup in 1991. Best record in Connacht Cup since 1987 was a semi final appearance in 2003. All Westport United honours excluding the AIB Cup win of 2006 are posted on the Westport United thread. The only publication with the history of the club was the 75th anniversary publication in 1987. Officially founded as Westport Town in 1911 but there were clubs from 1889 until 1910, one game was a friendly against Bohemians on 2nd January 1906 and the game finished 1-1. There are some artefacts in the Clew Bay Heritage Centre at The Quay, Westport.
