This mini tournament against Germany, Portugal and the Ukraine is preparation for the U-19 Elite qualifiers to be held in Dublin in May

Rooney and Nolan can only play the first game in the tournament against Germany, then they have to return to Yeovil and Stockport where they are on loan
Cillian Sheridan (Celtic), Alan Power (Nottingham Forest) and James Ryan (Liverpool) were all originally named in the squad, but have been pulled out by their clubs.

Gleeson was on the bench for Wolves at the weekend.

No shame in that, Portugal have a long tradition in underage football, and the Irish squad is depleted, Rooney (who scored against Germany) had to leave, and so did Eddie Nolan. The original squad was missing Cillian Sheridan amongst others, most notably Anthony Stokes, who won't be playing for any of the underage sides anymore.
