Your Love Is Not Enough - just heard it the last few days, but what a brilliant tune, their best in years surely. Featuring Nina Persson from the Cardigans, who really adds to it.

Thought it was mediocre at best when I heard it.

Thought it didn't sound great when I heard it on the radio mainly because it had the words You Stole The Sun From My Heart In It (recalling imho their only non-brilliant song).
However, I'm fully certain that it will grow on me.
Off to find the lyrics now.
Any details on a new album?

'Send Away The Tigers' released May 7th - a week after the single on April 30th.. The single really is a grower. Thought it was a bit cheesy at first, but bloody hell its catchy. And Nina's voice sounds great.

thought it was horrendus..the manics have become pitiful in their material...when you listen to this tune and then listen to the holy bible, the gap in quality is ridiculous..TRIPE

Not heard it yet but I'd feared the worst. Was hoping for a return to form. :(

Well lads, I thought Lifeblood was an excellent album.

Lifeblood was definitely their best since Everything Must Go, but that doesnt count for much. Loved The Holy Bible, but think people have got to accept they'll never release a Holy Bible Mark II.

agree that was obvious after this is my truth..., Richie was obviously sorely missed, supposedly the genius behind the holy bible

Lyrical genius certainly , but he never contributed anything musically , the man could barely play guitar

Just played the single /video clip... twice. First time I was not bowled over , but it is a grower and it blows the roof on most of what is out nowadays.Does what a single should do has you singing along before the end. Catchy and the repetitive end of each line kind of sticks in the brain. Be very surprised if it's not No. 1

I understand people might think they're not as rocky as Holy Bible or that the lyrics are less dense nowadays but i can't get my head around the few people who lived the Manics before This Is My Truth and now totally dismiss them.
I mean, who are they listening to instead of them like?

Disagree with you there ,I mean if you think about it a lot of THB was quite catchy in its melody , Die in the Summertime , This is Yesterday , PCP , Faster etc , the only difference i can see is that its slower and they are talking about matters other than abortion , genocide , anorexia etc etc.

Read some favourable reviews of the imminent new album - appears to be their best offering in quite some time. :)

NME gave it 8/10. Cant wait to hear it. Lifeblood wasnt as bad as most people made out, they just sounded bored on that record.

Lifeblood was definitely their best since Everything Must Go,
I thought Know Your Enemy was their best since EMG.

Ye're both right.
Lifeblood is better.

Know your Enemy has a few really strong tunes on it.
"Found that Soul" , "So Why, so sad".
I particularly like "Baby Elian" - criticised American Foreign policy before it became fashionable to do so.

I really like My little Guernica, Wattsville Blues, Miss Europa Disco Dancer, and the great bonus track - their version of McCarthy's We are all bourgeois now. Incidentally has anyone got Lipstick traces? A whole disk of great covers there.

Some of the best songs the Manics ever put out there are on their b-sides and covers collection Lipstick Traces, it ****es all over their greatest hits album
